Give Us a Name!

January 27, 2010 | 77 Comments »

Guys, I need your help.

This blog – which I consider our blog – is scheduled for an update/makeover while it’s sister site, Good Vibe Coaching, is dissolved.

(I have no interest in running three sites, especially since this one and Good Vibe University keep me plenty entertained.)

But this isn’t just a blog any more, and it’s certainly not just mine.

I had no idea when launching it what it would grow to be (okay, maybe I did), but I didn’t realize it would deserve a much better name than just “good vibe blog.”

So … what should we call this place? What do we call YOU all and what’s happening here?

It’s more than just a place where we toss around a couple of law of attraction related ideas.  The OutSourcerers post and your brilliant comments my clients constantly quote you on (they – and I – learn so much from you!) and your insights and quotes my dad has taped to his refrigerator – all of it proves there’s much more happening in the synergy of this gathering.

And I think the name deserves to reflect that.

But what is that name??! I can’t figure it out for the life of me, so I’m turning it over to you!

Any ideas? Thoughts? Preferences? I’d love to hear them!

The survey below is designed to make it easy for you to submit your suggestions and vote your preferences. Thanks in advance for helping to develop the future of our community!

I liked Good Vibe Community for this reason………
it sounds friendly, like anyone can become a part in it.
If feels open, rather than misterious or over someones head. Good Vibe Gathering sounds pretty friendly too.

  2. Good Vibe Coach on January 27, 2010 at 7:48 pm

Thank you, Sue! I appreciate you taking the time to share your input on this topic that has had me stumped for weeks now.
    :)

  3. Coach T.I.A - Take Inspired Action! on January 27, 2010 at 7:53 pm

I like the Good Vibe Tribe (such a sing song ring to it!) And the Good Vibe Community :D Didn’t realise you were doing away old site but hello, what took you so long? BLOGSITES are where it’s at :) Woohoo!

  4. Good Vibe Coach on January 27, 2010 at 8:01 pm

Well, I know that NOW (blog sites are where it’s at), but back in MY DAY – ha ha – that wasn’t yet the case.

I’m exaggerating, but you know what I mean. We live, we learn, we change!
    :)

I like the ring of Good Vibe Tribe, too … BUT that site’s already taken (so we’d have to use THEgoodvibetribe.com) and … the connotation of tribe .. does it seem sort of … exclusive? Like, closed to certain outsiders?

Or is it just me that hears the word that way? I’d LOVE to use something that rhymed!!

    lol

    Thanks for posting, Tia!

  5. Dana - Your Inspired Coach on January 27, 2010 at 8:14 pm

I dunno, Jeannette, I seemed to fall right in to the Good Vibe Tribe and I love all the connections I’ve made. Some of my new best friends are in this tribe, and some of my new best friends probably aren’t here yet.

    I like it. 8)

  6. Laura on January 27, 2010 at 8:48 pm

You know…I just put them all into a thesaurus…nothing works as well as The Good Vibe Tribe. Don’t think it sounds exclusive…you join the tribe whenever you desire.

The only other one I liked was:

    Good Vibe Network (too formal?)

    A tough one…

  7. Dana - Your Inspired Coach on January 27, 2010 at 9:27 pm

Is that like the Childrens’ Television Network, Laura? :P

  8. Coach T.I.A on January 27, 2010 at 10:21 pm

Exactly – a tribe we can CHOOSE to be a part of! Everyone is welcome to be a tribe member :) Having said that, a tribe does seem like you have to prove yourself to join whereas a community is open to all – like the local community centres we have (I already call it the GVC). Tribe is cooler though! Haha not making it easy are we >: )

  9. Good Vibe Coach on January 27, 2010 at 10:35 pm

Well, you’re all making me feel better about Tribe, if that’s where we go.

Here are some of the “other” submissions for your consideration:

    Good Vibe Quantum Tribe
    Good Vibration Nation
    Good Vibe Vision
    Good Vibin’!

I KNEW you were the ones to come to for creative possiblities! Thanks for delivering!!

  10. Toni on January 27, 2010 at 11:36 pm

If you really do want to change Good Vibe Blog (which I still love), the “tribe” solution really strikes a chord with me; if you’re looking for kindred spirits, this is the place to go! :-)

  11. sonia on January 28, 2010 at 12:02 am

I love good vibe cafe. It sounds light and fun and friendly and welcoming, nothing too serious, a warm place to be in.
    :)
    Love u

  12. Pernille Madsen on January 28, 2010 at 12:07 am

I love the Good Vibe Community, that is what I have been calling it for some time now and I already feel like a member of the Good Vibe Community :-)

However, I like the idea of a good name, but it’s not the name but the people that matters – and they are amazing whatever the name is :-)

  13. Flavia on January 28, 2010 at 2:00 am

    Hmm the first post disappeared:)

I remember that your first blog was called Law of Attraction Playground, so how about we combine them:

Good Vibe Playground- a place where we come to play, explore and have fun, a place where anything that feels good goes!

  14. Annika Bomark on January 28, 2010 at 3:25 am

    I like Cafe, or Playground.

I don’t think it’s a good idea to use Tribe if the address isn’t available, because people could confuse it and end up on the wrong site.

  15. Annika Bomark on January 28, 2010 at 3:36 am

    Good Vibe Village ?
    Good Vibe Campus ?
    Camp Good Vibe ?

  16. Mia on January 28, 2010 at 3:44 am

For some reason or another I’ve always been a little allergic to the word “tribe”, which seems to be used a lot these days in LOA-circles. It gives me nasty chills, but I guess that’s a personal thing.

I admit that Good Vibe Tribe has a nice ring about it, but like I said, the associations that the word “tribe” has for me are very restrictive, as of a closed community where each of your steps is being watched, with huge social pressure and you mustn’t step out of the line or else…

I like “Good Vibe Galaxy”, but that’s still not completely it for me – galaxy sounds a bit too grandiose, and it has some absurdistic connotations with the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, which is of course a splendid book, but still, something about this constellation of words does not feel right for me.

“Good Vibe Gathering” is a nice one too, and I think the tribe lovers would have something in there to connect with as well – it can conjure up images of sitting around the fire and telling stories, if that appeals to you. To me it rings of a Tolkien-like ambiance, with fellowships and gatherings. (Well, Good Vibe Fellowship maybe? Nah, too elitist…)

“Community” sounds too clinical to me, and (please forgive me, many of you know how much I love Americans) too American ;-) It’s a word that has too little soul in it for me.

Just some thoughts. I’ll keep the question in mind and see if any more positive reactions come up… I’m reminding myself of the saying that knowing what you don’t want is a great starting point to discover what you do want.

    Mia

  17. Mia on January 28, 2010 at 3:48 am

Re. my last post: please don’t link those two sentences about “Community” together to conclude that I think Americans have too little soul. That’s far from what I meant. It’s just this one word.

  18. Mia on January 28, 2010 at 4:05 am

What about the Good Vibe Vortex?

  19. Jenn on January 28, 2010 at 5:23 am

I love Good Vibration Nation. Before I read the comments I had “Good Vibrations” singing in my head :)

  20. Pernille Madsen on January 28, 2010 at 6:01 am

    How about Good Vibe Synergy?

  21. Pure Potential on January 28, 2010 at 6:19 am

    Good Vibe Nation
    Good Vibe Confluence

  22. Nikki on January 28, 2010 at 6:39 am

Hey! This post is a good idea.

I’m with Annika, I’m not crazy about “THE” Good Vibe Tribe. My vote is with “Good Vibe Cafe,” and I’d also like to throw “Good Vibe Gallery” into the mix.

After all, we are all artists creating our own lives! :)

  23. michelle on January 28, 2010 at 8:06 am

I am for Good Vibe Cafe. It sounds like a fun place to hang out which is what this blog has been.

  24. EngagingtheMagic on January 28, 2010 at 8:15 am

Good Vibration Nation…I had the total zing feeling when I read that one.

  25. Laura on January 28, 2010 at 8:17 am

I am loving: Good Vibration Nation! Has a great sound to it!

  26. Adrienne on January 28, 2010 at 8:22 am

    My two pennies :) ….

While I like Good Vibe Cafe because it does sound friendly, I’m concerned that in google searches and/or for those who do not know what the site is about, it will actually sound like an eating establishment (and also, for those who are manifesting around food/dietary/body aspects, I’m wondering if there should always be a restaurant reference… then again, I’m a literal person 0:-) and most people aren’t as literal as me).

This might sound boring, but it is a) accurate and b) in keeping with KISS (Keep It Simple, [not nice word]). “Good Vibe Place”. It’s not “limiting”, and it’s exactly what it is … a place (or space) for good vibes …you don’t have to be an expert (e.g., guru) or a member (“tribe” -although I’m a sucker for rhyming :) ) or anything else.

  27. Jeannette on January 28, 2010 at 8:41 am

All right, I guess there wasn’t one obvious answer I was missing! lol

Sure glad I opened it up to you all to choose. :)

Just updated the survey to drop the two options that weren’t getting any votes, and to add several of your fabulous new suggestions.

    Let the voting continue!

  28. Annika Bomark on January 28, 2010 at 8:52 am

Rather than Good Vibe Place, in that case, I would prefer to stay with Good Vibe Blog, and add some things to show it’s a community, like pictures of frequent commenters in an extra right sidebar perhaps, and change the tagline to “Join our Law of Attraction conversation”, “Where everyone has their say”, “The comments is where it happens”, “The Law of Attraction comments community”, “The comments is where the magic is”, or something like that.

A blog is assumed to be interactive, after all, and just to try to play up the conversation bit of this blog.

  29. Jeannette on January 28, 2010 at 8:54 am

I can see that working, Annika.

Still laughing at the latest suggestion sent by private message: “G-Spot. (where G stands for Good.) lol

Pretty sure that URL is taken. ha ha

  30. Mitch on January 28, 2010 at 9:28 am

    Good Vibe Source
    Good Vibe Meet-up
    Good Vibe Sit-in
    Good Vibe Round-Up

Don’t mind me. I’m just helping to brainstorm. Apparently I have a thing for hyphenated words. lol

    Good Vibe Web
    Good Vibe Cohorts
    Good Vibe Central
    Good Vibe Group
    Good Vibe Universe

What about Good Vibe Universe? Then it could sort of coincide with Good Vibe University, and it’s also a play on the whole Universe thing.

Regardless, I’m pretty much neutral. I’ll be happy with whatever you choose! Unless it’s Good Vibes ‘R Us. That would just be tacky. ;)

  31. Laura on January 28, 2010 at 9:33 am

Oh c’mon, let’s do Good Vibes “R” Us!

    I alose love
    Good Vibe Galaxy
    Good Vibe Nation
Good Vibe Vortex-where you can easily get sucked in all the good vibrations!

  35. Coach T.I.A - Take Inspired Action! on January 28, 2010 at 2:19 pm

Ok I love Good Vibe Playground – it’s a place where we get together and play with the different techniques and ideas, create new games, people play at different levels (from swings to hockey) and it’s HEAPS OF FUN!! :D :D

Also – good vibration nation – hahaha love it.

  36. Gorgeousophie on January 28, 2010 at 2:31 pm

Lol! Oh how very cute is the G-spot…but I have no doubt indeed that we may end up with pop-ups of scantily clad ladies being naughty with non less scantily clad gentlemen (bearing in mind that both terms – ‘ladies’ and ‘gentlemen’ – in all their gloriously Victorian formality, are here being used loosely!;o). I like ‘The Good Vibe Tribe’ as it sounds quite primal, campfire, cave painting, animal skins, knuckles touching the floor *grunt* and ‘roasted mammoth again tonight darling, how very lovely!’ thus anchoring us in this reality whilst we work on smoothing our path into the Vortex! And ‘Good Vibration Nation’ is another funny one which also gets me singing every time! Laura, you make me giggle! ‘Good Vibe Vortex’ is cool too! and community is also neat and simple! Am not helping, am I?!

  37. Good Vibe Coach on January 28, 2010 at 3:22 pm

Actually, it does help, Gorgeousophie. Thanks for posting! :)

    Here’s Kara’s two cents:

“Whoa, no! Not Good Vibe Tribe. It rhymes, it’s awesome, but the energy it gives off is not the energy the blog has. Ditto with Cafe.

“The Good Vibe Blog is huge! Let’s choose a name that reflects that!”

Thanks for pitching in, everyone! I’ll leave the poll up another few days since the new additions weren’t properly represented when this post first went up and the voting began.

I sure appreciate your help with this! It feels so much better knowing you’re all contributing in making this decision!
    :)

  38. Robert Higginson on January 28, 2010 at 3:50 pm

As a general rule I try not to post anything negative, but I gotta agree with Kara. “Cafe” gives me a negative vibe also. As in, a place where people who don’t have anything better to do, sit around and drink coffee. And that is SO, NOT who we are.
Playground, vortex, community: all sound like places that I would look forward to visiting every day!
BUT, that’s just me. I support the new name whatever it is.

  39. Gillian on January 28, 2010 at 4:20 pm

I like “”GoodVibe Galaxy” because it reflects the vastness of your blog community from people all over the world. “GoodVibe Cafe/Nation/Tribe” sounds to minimal and only restricting to a city or a little community in your neighborhood. “GoodVibe Galaxy” sounds “unlimited”.

  40. Jessica on January 28, 2010 at 4:33 pm

OMG! Some reason this post did not make it to my inbox and I almost missed it! How great that I was poking around in the google reader and added “Good Vibe Blog” Phew. That was a close one! :) Haha had to laugh. A few years ago exploring my options to create a website I was going to use Manifestation Galaxy to get started with. Haha. But I don’t think it has the right energy for this awesome blog! When reading comments a few came to mind:

*Good Vibe Matrix (we are all one, meshed together to create the fabric of life- each of us an individual fiber to the overall oneness of the fabric)
*Good Vibe Playmates (rather than playground) I know it is a “place” but isn’t it more about the PEOPLE?!
*Good Vibe Magic (someone said something about magic…and finding our GV is like magic, etc)

In my humble opinion, Tribe seems too “cute” which can rob the feel of authenticity/quality. Cafe seems cliche to me and gives me the impression of a site where you sell things, a “shop”. (not trying to downplay what anyone else may like.)

Btw, I know it is convention to have the url match the NAME of the blog, but I don’t think that is always necessary. Maybe ask some good marketing people if it is better to keep using this url (as it is well established) but just change the name on the design aspect (if you wanted). Honestly, I love it as is!! :) I shorten it to “good vibe” when I refer to it in conversation.

Oh, this is so much FUN! I love it here!

  41. Jessica on January 28, 2010 at 5:17 pm

    Can’t stop thinking about it…
What about something to do with growing or tree? As in family tree, branching out, growth…
Growing Good Vibes, Good Vibe Tree or treehouse? I’m not sure… something just was nudging me because the energy is so much of a family and nature is so abundant, thus the tree or growing. Just thought I’d throw that out there for anyone to react to/inspire as well.

  42. Rina on January 28, 2010 at 5:46 pm

I really like Good Vibe blog. Whatever you decide I will love being there because of you and all who come to post!

  43. Tracy on January 28, 2010 at 8:14 pm

Not sure if any one listed this–but how about “Good Vibe Alliance”? I looked up alliance and it seems to fit–it a union or joining–or a close association for a common objective.

  44. Barbara on January 28, 2010 at 8:23 pm

Wow..so many creative ideas. I’ll be happy with whatever you come up with because it’s the energy here that’s important.

I DO like something with the energy of “play” or “fun” in it, though, so “Good Vibe Playground” or “Good Vibe Park” or something like that resonates with me. Maybe it should be “Good Vibe Recess” where we go out and play–Does Good Vibe University have recess? lol

Like I said, whatever you come up with works for me!

  45. Tracy on January 28, 2010 at 8:25 pm

Adding on to what I listed above–maybe “Good Vibe Allies”

  46. Berta Bauer, Lighthouse Coaching and Retreats on January 28, 2010 at 8:49 pm

Initial response: laughed at Good Vibe Tribe and Good Vibe Galexy.

Read through comments and like: Good Vibe Matrix, Good Vibe Vortex, Good Vibe Magic

Good Vibe Exchange, Good Vibe Swap

Good Vibe Exhultations (or is it Exhaltations) from the Beech Boy’s Good Vibrations song??? both have joy as synonym

  47. leslie richter on January 29, 2010 at 12:13 am

    What about Good Vibe Creators.

  48. Pernille Madsen on January 29, 2010 at 1:25 am

Leslie, I really like Good Vibe Creators, that’s what we are, isn’t it?

  49. MissyB on January 29, 2010 at 1:54 am

How about just “Good Vibrations”. Cue music by the Beach Boys !

GVG – Good Vibe Blog is just a name. Its you and all your visitors here that makes it so grand. Whilst we contribute, you take the main lead…this is YOUR blog. Us being allowed to contribute is just a bonus.

  50. Erik on January 29, 2010 at 1:59 am

I put into other: “Vortex Nation” – it sounds big and I guess we are moving to be a (global) Nation of people living exclusively in the Vortex – on the same line goes “Good Vibration Nation” ^^
    Cheers,

    Erik

  51. Jennifer Tilley on January 29, 2010 at 6:28 am

I opted for Good Vibe Jibe (under “other”) as the word “jibe” means: To shift a fore-and-aft sail from one side of a vessel to the other while sailing …

since a “shift” is what we’re all looking for, and sailing through our experiences is the desirable thing to do!!

  52. Gorgeousophie on January 29, 2010 at 6:37 am

Recess like Recession?! Argl! No way, Lol! As for Galaxy, pleaaaaase do not, it is very FATTENING (brand of chocolate)! Just desired to add that when I saw ‘The Good Vibe Cafe’, I only thought about ‘Baghdad Cafe’, a fabulous movie (I did not quite get it but my Mummy did and loved it!). Also, saw it like a Café in the spirit of French cafés where poncy philosophers, painters and musicians would gather (like the ‘Café de Flore’ at the heart of the existentialist movement and its neighbour and rival, ‘Les Deux Magots’) the rendezvous of the literary and intellectual élite of the city, where Picasso and Hemingway used to hang out!) not ye old greasy spoon! Skips away singing again*lalalalalaaaa, lalalaaaaaaa, good, good, goooood, good vibrachuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun*

  53. Good Vibe Coach on January 29, 2010 at 8:13 am

    Oh my.

I just realized I failed to set an intention when originally posting this, so this went up with my “confused” and “unsure” energy. No surprise there isn’t one clearcut favorite answer? Egads.

Thankfully, I know how to set a retro-intention. he he

Coming right up! This will soon be very clear!!
    :)

  54. Annika Bomark on January 29, 2010 at 8:50 am

Robert Higginson- But is there anything “better to do” than to sit around here, chatting with all the brilliant people here, (coffee is optional) LOL !

What could possibly be a “better” thing to do?

It’s all about the feeling good, isn’t it? Not the “action” ;-)

Also, didn’t J K Rowling write the first Harry Potter book while sitting in a cafe every day?

  55. Mia on January 29, 2010 at 8:58 am

Cafe also sounds a bit too informal & chaotic to me. It’s not like we’re just hanging out here & saying whatever comes to mind, no matter how irrelevant, shouting over music & background noise (ok, maybe I’ve got a distorted image of cafés) – there is a focused direction to the conversations over here.

The more I hear Good Vibration Nation, the more I like it.

  56. Annika Bomark on January 29, 2010 at 8:58 am

Jeannette- Nice creation, pretty cool ;-)

I would be most interested in a post about this, with explanation of how you cleared it up, which I already know will happen! LOL

After every accidental miscreation, an instructional post to us readers is mantatory, no? ;-) It makes us feel better about ourselves that even coaches sometimes “mess up”. Also, we want to know how to avoid doing it ourselves. Just think of it as win-win :-)

  57. Annika Bomark on January 29, 2010 at 9:09 am

Of course, I don’t mean I am dead set on “cafe”, it is just that apparently my perception of cafes is (perhaps being european?) different than some, so I just wanted to add something about my view of them.

Also “people with nothing better to do”, apparently I have a little lingering belief about that wording. Don’t worry, I know you probably didn’t mean it like that, it’s my thoughts, not you ;-)

Actually, I think keeping Blog sounds pretty appealing too.

I am excited to see, when Jeannette has unkinked her vibe, if we are all suddenly going to start agreeing on some random option, or even everyone falling in love with a completely new suggestion! LOL

  58. Mitch on January 29, 2010 at 9:34 am

I can’t really get on board with Cafe, and I’m not sure I can even explain why. It sounds a little tongue-in-cheek to me, a little too cutsie for a gathering as powerful ours.

For what it’s worth, I have always really liked Good Vibe Blog as well. It’s catchy and it’s easy. It’s also really open. It lets this space be what it is rather than giving it a category or a connotation.

  59. Gorgeousophie on January 29, 2010 at 1:44 pm

Lol! Jeannette, and Annika who both made me giggle, and Mitch the Hottie (for such is your nickname now, dear Mitch, isn’t it?!;o) and everyone here, out there, wherever, I nearly said it yesterday but went off on a tangent, The Good Vibe blog, indeed, is simple, neat and to the point! How is that for clarity!?

  60. Jessica on January 29, 2010 at 2:40 pm

haha! I like how this is coming. I see more and more agreement on cafe not being “right”… but what’s even better is that Good Vibe Blog works! Why change it?! Why mess with perfection?! Most people change things when they feel it is not going “well” but that’s not the case at all- things are great as usual around here! I love the humor in all this! :)

  61. Robert Higginson on January 29, 2010 at 4:30 pm

You’r right Annika, the very idea of a European Cafe sounds romantic, exotic, exciting….I don’t know of anything like that in Utah, USA where I live.
I would actually be on board with “cafe” if it was a European Cafe! :-)

  62. [...] This post was mentioned on Twitter by Jeannette Maw, Camilla Knox. Camilla Knox said: @SaraExley I wrote this one with you in mind, my dear. (You always have the best ideas!) http://goodvibeblog.com/2010/01/give-us-a-name/ [...]

  63. Janette on January 29, 2010 at 9:42 pm

Good Vibe Cafe does it for me! Somewhere to just hang out with good mates and relish the vibe. Yum!!

  64. Annika Bomark on January 30, 2010 at 8:07 am

LOL, though Good Vibe European Cafe is perhaps a bit too long :-)

  65. Mia on January 30, 2010 at 1:36 pm

Had to smile at Robert’s remark: “the very idea of a European Cafe sounds romantic, exotic, exciting…”

I guess you guys think the whole of Europe looks like le Quartier Latin in Paris. Trust me, it doesn’t ;-) We have great cafes as well as ugly and boring ones, depends where you go. But as a European I have to say it’s flattering that you think so positively about our cafe culture. :-)

  66. Suzie Cheel on January 31, 2010 at 12:35 pm

I will support, enjoy, continue to voraciously read (and occasionally post) no matter what the name, but the common theme I keep seeing and can’t help repeating is…”why the change? “Good Vibe Blog” is great!”

  68. Good Vibe Coach on February 2, 2010 at 8:56 pm

Well, LivingTheLOA, since there was no obvious general consensus, I think that’s exactly what she’ll continue to be: Good Vibe Blog.

And that thought makes me smile, so it must be a winner! lol

Thanks everyone, for your gracious and thoughtful consideration on this topic that means a LOT to me! I’d still be scratching my head if it weren’t for all of you!

  69. JM on February 2, 2010 at 9:43 pm

Hey hey!! So, I am a little late to this party, and I certainly will return no matter what the name…and I also don’t believe the name needs changing, but…should it ever come up again, how does “Good Vibe Collective” feel?

Ah…some of the best blogs are interactive spaces…much like this one. So if it ain’t broke…

Great Choice Jeanette- If it anit broke don’t fix it! and interesting as I embark on rebranding to bring everything under one umbrella

YAY!!! I’m so happy to hear that! I have to admit I was slightly disappointed (just for a minute and then I zapped that thought right out of my head!) at the thought of it changing for some reason. There are many blogs that have (and give me) a good vibe. Lots of them by frequent commenters here, in fact. But this one will always be “THE” good vibe blog to me. It never fails to give me a lift and put a huge smile on my face. I’m pretty sure I would have kept referring to it that way to others even if it had a different name….

I love Good Vibe Universe because it just sounds right, but Good Vibe Playground just sounds so FUN!!! And that is the biggest reason why I log on and read, to see what my “playmates” have going on….

Playground was my favorite, too, Wendy! With Universe a close second. We have similar taste, I see! :)

ha! Good Vibe Universe-ity (am really not suggesting you change the name of GVU … just sharing my realization of the play on words :-P )
