Doesn’t Matter What You Do

May 17, 2013 | 20 Comments »

Doesn't Matter What You Do; Only How You FeelSometimes we get caught up in trying to decide what to do, analyzing which option is best.

  • Quit this job or stay put?
  • Stay in this relationship or get out?
  • Go ahead with this medical procedure or wait for another solution?
  • Spend this money now or save it for later?

It can be maddening when we don’t have strong guidance making it clear which is the best option.

That’s when I like to remember that it doesn’t matter what we do.

It only matters how we feel.

Because our world is unfolding according to our energy, not our action.

So even if I picked a “smart” action, if I continue doubting and second-guessing that action, that energy won’t lead to my highest success.

On the other hand, if I picked a ridiculous path that seems very unlikely to work out – if I feel confident and flow positive expectations about that decision, I’ll be better served than if I chose something out of fear or obligation.

It’s worth remembering next time you’re stuck in indecision wondering what the right thing to do is.

It’s also why it’s pointless to judge another’s action, since we don’t know what their vibration is around it.  As in, maybe Angelina Jolie found her highest relief in having an elective double mastectomy.  Whatever she feels best about is what works best for her.  The same is true for each of us, even when we land on different answers.

There is no such thing as “right thing to do.”  There is only “best way to feel.”

Which option makes it easier for you to feel good?  Go with that one.

And then LET it be the right decision.  Get on board with it and feel good about it, whichever you choose.

Because it’s those good vibes that make the difference.

It’s not what you do that counts; it’s how you feel.

How do you do it ?! Your timing is spot on. I’ve been dithering over whether I should have Kofi castrated next week…some say it will make him more nervous. I never gave it a second thought when I booked him in for the procedure a few weeks back, but I let other peoples’ opinions sway me.
So I’ve made my mind up with confidence now. Whatever happens – I’ll cope.
    Thank you.

Yay for confidence, MissyB! And for being able to find your OWN highest vibing opinion/truth in the noise of everyone else’s.

Big love (to you and Kofi)! :)

At the risk of sounding like a heretic, Jeannette, this morning I found huge relief in taking very important action: I began consciously deep breathing! Slowly, deeply, and completely. At first, I focused only on the breath, then I started affirming as I breathed slowly, deeply, and completely.

Oh, no, now I feel a blog post coming on…not another ACTION!!! :-0

    Many blessings,
    Nancy

    Nancy — You’re so funny!

What I’m totally getting out of this post is how to move out of a quagmire. I’m a former over-thinker, so it’s spot on for me personally.

I like what happens when I take an action that feels better in the taking of it. In order to do this, I do have to pay attention to what I feel. But, wow, the resulting flow is always very powerful and wonderful.

And I still get stuck. That’s where stopping to take a deep breath is very helpful.

The bottom line is that no matter what I do, or how stuck I get, each moment is always a new beginning. Stuck is just a perception. This is becoming increasingly obvious.

And, finally, in my jumble of thoughts here, this says it all:

On the other hand, if I picked a ridiculous path that seems very unlikely to work out – if I feel confident and flow positive expectations about that decision, I’ll be better served than if I chose something out of fear or obligation.

    That’s it. Right there.

Well, Nancy, just for fun, I’ll see your heresy and raise you two – lol. Have you heard of over-oxygenation? It’s apparently a thing. (I heard about it from an Aussie coach years ago.)

And did you know it’s possible to take a deep breath in such a way that it creates more nervousness rather than calm? I learned that in the mental jitters thread at GVU this week. I personally am a fan of deep breathing to soothe a rattled vibe, but – jussayin’ the same action doesn’t result in the same vibe for everyone, in every situation. ;)

Frank! I LOVED this: “Stuck is just a perception. This is becoming increasingly obvious.”!! That is SO true, and SO powerful to remember! “Each moment is always a new beginning.”

And here we are again! Another new beginning upon us! (Love you!)

Thanks for posting, you two. :)

Amen! Since Janette Dalgliesh has been doing her Dropping Should group, I’ve been thinking a lot about my decision making process and I’ve got some big decisions looming, so this was perfect. I just posted about when our people judge or try to sway our decisions and then I open your post. Another perfect reminder that what feels right to us is right. Yeah!

  8. Good Vibe Coach on May 17, 2013 at 1:50 pm

Glad you enjoyed it, Sheryl! Thanks for posting to say so. :)

And Michelle, after reading your post

Spot on about the place of action when it comes to the art of deliberate create. I’ve had well-meaning friends and family in the past try to nudge/push me into action when it’s not felt better for me. I either dug my heals in rebellion or got irritated – neither good for my vibration. But hey I created those experiences for myself in the first place, and got to learn and grow from them. So all good.

I was wondering . . . do we feel the pressure of taking action when we care how others will see us? When I fear being judged then I don’t hear my own wisdom so clearly. I start trying to see things through the eyes of another. I never see clearly through that lense.

  10. Good Vibe Coach on May 17, 2013 at 3:52 pm

Good point, Sejual: “do we feel the pressure of taking action when we care how others will see us? When I fear being judged then I don’t hear my own wisdom so clearly. I start trying to see things through the eyes of another. I never see clearly through that lense.”

I think that’s one reason Abraham often suggests we “ignore the peanut gallery.” Easier said than done, but well worth practicing!

And I’ve found that sometimes, it’s so challenging to get around that in some situations, that my higher feel good is to just go with it for the time being. It offers more incentive to break free from “group think,” though, doesn’t it?

“There is no such thing as “right thing to do.” There is only “best way to feel.””

Amen. And thank you, Jeanette. That quote is totally mantra material! I’m writing it down right now.

  12. LeAnn Peterson on May 17, 2013 at 5:27 pm

Thank you Jeanette, I just let go of s job that was contributing more to my mental anguish than it contributed to my bottom line. You’ve confirmed that second guessing my decision does not serve me. What a gift, to just breath.

  13. Frank Butterfield | Communion of Light on May 17, 2013 at 7:29 pm

Sejual — I think so. I know that one unexpected result of all my traveling alone is that what other people think about what I do or where I go is almost nill, or at least very little of it reaches me. This has been very liberating and, when I do interact with other people, I do so because I want to and each interaction is magical. That said, I feel more and more confident of my awareness of my intuition and do most everything because it feels better to do so.

  14. Good Vibe Coach on May 18, 2013 at 10:56 am

That’s fun to hear it hit the spot for you, Emily! Thanks for reading and especially for posting.

LeAnn, as a libra sun sign, I’m very familiar with the process of questioning and second guessing and regretting and am rather susceptible to buyer’s remorse. Which is why it’s especially important for me to remember that it doesn’t matter what I choose – it just matters how I feel about it.

(A lot of these blog posts are written for me, too. hehe)

Thanks for chiming in on this one, LeAnn! Here’s to fulfilling and rewarding work that enhances our lives in all ways.
    :)

  15. Luzia on May 18, 2013 at 1:38 pm

So, then it does matter what we do, because we need to do what feels good. No?

  16. Good Vibe Coach on May 18, 2013 at 4:58 pm

To the extent that how you feel depends on what you do, then yes, Luzia. Well said.

“There is no such thing as “right thing to do.” There is only “best way to feel.””

Fantastic! I’m going to post this on desk and my Facebook page.

I’m probably a world class ditherer. I believe thinking about how I’ll FEEL afterwards instead of what I think I should do will really help me.

Wow girlie… this is a best selling, million dollar little mini-ebook!

“Because our world is unfolding according to our energy, not our action.”

“If I feel confident and flow positive expectations about that decision, I’ll be better served than if I chose something out of fear or obligation.”

Thanks so much… just the thing I needed to hear!! Nice validation for me and I’m going to use the mantra “my energy unfolds my world” or something like that… just the vibe I got from reading this!

    Thanks sister!

Another winner! :) You are tapped in, tuned in and turned on, woman! Why is it so easy to forget that the most important thing is feeling good? It’s a mystery. Thanks for helping me shift my vibe. :)
