Law of Attraction Isn’t for Fixing

But law of attraction isn’t for fixing.

Law of attraction can only reflect who you are and what you’re vibrating.

So if your signal says something is “wrong,” like your body, or bank account, or marriage – it can only return more of that.

I’ve done this myself, so I know how easy it is to fall for.

Someone shared recently that she had tried everything under the sun to cure herself of cancer, including the  work of manifesting.   To no avail.

The thing is, when we pick up deliberate creation in order to change something we have resistance to, it won’t – it can’t – turn out how we want.  Because when we strongly don’t want something, Universe can onlydeliver the very thing we’re focused on.

The first “work” of manifesting is to drop any resistance to what is.  Which means making some peace.

When we’re complaining about or scared of something that hasn’t changed, that’s not peace – that’s resistance. 

So, you might ask, what’s the good of manifesting if we can’t use it to change what we don’t like?!

The point is to understand that we create our lives according to what we think and feel.  We can consciously direct our journey when we leverage that understanding and discipline our attention.

But when we use deliberate creation to fix something gone wrong, that belief that something is wrong and needs fixing is the very obstacle to what we want.

When I think cancer is big bad and ugly and I desperately do everything I can think of to get rid of it … can you feel that vibe?  Pretend you’re Universe on the other side of that signal.  What could it send besides more big bad ugly cancer?

When we train our focus on what we wan’t (rather than what we don’t want), that likely includes making peace with the diagnosis, or the breakup, or the bankruptcy – since those things are kind of big to try to ignore. 

Personally, my directed thoughts when something “wrong” is threatening to grab my attention might go something like:

“This is what is right now, and I’m okay with that.  I know it’s not permanent.  Nothing IS!  I know how this works.  I get what I focus on.  What can I pay attention to now that is going right?”

  • My friends love me and would do anything they could to help.  That’s kind of cool.
  • The sun is shining through the clouds right now in a way that is really beautiful.
  • Good Wife is not a re-run!  Yay!
  • This soup is just the right temperature.  I love when I get it right.

And then maybe I eventually find some better feeling thoughts on the topic at hand that’s feeling so pressureful.  But it doesn’t have to be right now.  There’s plenty of other things to feel better about here and now.  My dogs are healthy; I’ve got a quiet spot to myself right here; this is a great view of that big tree; etc. etc.

Dropping resistance and training our attention in a way that raises our vibration and improves our alignment is how we allow in magic and miracles. 

Not because we’re fixing something gone wrong, but because we exert our power as creators by directing our attention in a way that allows our preferences to unfold.

The nutshell: when you’re trying to fix something gone wrong, that’s attending to what you don’t want.  That vibration prevents solutions from appearing.

  1. Jeannette, this is such a great piece and I suspect it will impact many people. Resistance to what has already been created makes no sense, and this lesson has far-ranging applicability…my own Mom has just been diagnosed with cancer, and thankfully is fully focused on her vibrant health and that helps me to do so as well. The only effective thing we can do in ANY situation, from my experience, is to keep looking for those thoughts and feelings that feel GOOD. I’m so grateful to have learned this and really be living it…

    Accepting grief or challenges with grace and then choosing differently, rather than fighting things, seems to me to be a far better way of getting and staying in the flow of all good things…

    Wow, so true. I can feel it in my solar plexus when I put my thoughts on an issue that needs fixing … but when I shift to what I call a touchstone, to something pleasant (an event a person) then my whole body relaxes. The energy flows. I breathe more deeply. I am calm with “what is” knowing that it is temporary and can change in a nano-second. Thank you Jeannette for bringing to my attention that the Law of Attraction only works on what I think about.

  6. And it’s an easy one to miss, isn’t it, Elisabeth? At least, I think that’s why I get hired as often as I do. We know resistance holds up the party; we just don’t always recognize it when it exists.

I’m just thinking further on this, and reading the incoming comments…Like many people, I’ve held a belief that if I ‘accept’ something then I am condoning it, saying it’s OK and that I like and welcome it. What I’ve learned with LOA and other tools is that, as you all so wisely say, accepting is an acknowledgement of responsibility for our powers of creation. We can then release and let go more easily instead of fighting, and choose otherwise. It’s simple, and quite profound, actually… Thanks again! xo

    Love this post, Jeannette.

    It all gets back to non judgment, don’t you think? When we stop thinking of things as ‘good’ or ‘bad’ but simply energy, just as it is, we open the door to a whole new level of manifesting.

    How to get there?

    Perspective can help. I like to ask, how will I feel about this in 30 years? Or, what would this have meant to me when I was a child? If we take our consciousness to a point where there is no ‘charge’ it gives us a little breather. We see that it’s no big deal, really.

    And my favourite in the moment to do is see the beauty in something, anything. Just appreciate it. Now!

    Kim, I was thinking about that kind of perspective, but kind of took it a step further. I thought, “What will I think about this when I’m dead?”

    When I slip off this skin suit and leave the playground, what will I think about all those big, hairy deals I made about stuff?

    I love that ‘Good Wife is not a rerun’:). Nice one Jeannette! I like that re-directing of my thoughts to what is going right that I can pay my attention to. It works for me…some of the time. I still get kinked up on resistance especially on ‘big things’. But that’s the work isn’t it. To ask and then do all i need to do to get out of my own way..Simple? Yes. Easy? Not so much:).

    When I’m faced with anykind of resistance, any bad feelings, my mind goes:
    “This is a part of my journey” – *instant relief*
    “Everything is unfolding perfectly” *more relief*
    Focusing on the feeling of ease.. (that’s the easiest feeling for me to find! I’ve practiced! ;))
    Result: I’m back in my happyplace before I know it! 😉 – nothing more to fix, so vibe says: Life flows easily! 🙂
    And the issues that caused the resistance the first place are resolving one by one in the background.. They always do! 🙂

    This is a tricky one for me as I’ve had health problems for many years. Thankfully 4 years ago things started to improve & soon after I discovered my spiritual identity which to a large extent has taken my focus away from my physical body & has given me a richness that I never dreamt possible. However it is a bit of a catch 22 situation as I can focus on lots of positive & uplifting things but would like to have a healthy body. Was taking antibiotics for almost 4 years which helped but recently decided to come off them & go down the alternative route which isn’t working out very well at the moment but it’s early days. I don’t like that fact that I needed to approach a Nutritionist, Homeopath, CranioSacral therapist as just the fact that I have & then discuss problems I’m currently experiencing with them is giving more attention to the problem & feeding it even further. I don’t see how I can approach it in a positive way as for whatever reason I’ve not been able to get myself back on track on my own & feel I’ve had to allow some outside intervention other than just my connection with source to heal completely. <3

    Hi Jeanette,
    It is very hard to get your head around the whole not feeling sorry for me feeling, it is the way most of us were bought up but once you start to understand the Law of Attraction isn’t it funny how we start to see things in a different way. I know I struggled for a long time even though I thought I understood the LOA but I just could not get the negatives to stop because I didn’t really understand how too. But now I have my own little way by just saying “Delete, Delete” and then think of the positive outcome I want and I am still surprised to this day how I can manifest what I want. I am forever doing my Happy Dance.
