My 2011 Intentions

January 1, 2011 | 37 Comments »

Instead of another post about how to launch a new year (there are enough already), I’m sharing my personal new year intentions instead.

When I asked this morning what I wanted to commit to in 2011 (if anything), here’s what I got.  This year, I intend:

No workouts. I promise not to do one single workout just for the sake of a workout.  I do promise to have fun moving my body when and how I feel inspiration for it.

(And not because I’m supposed to or in order to change anything; but rather simply because it feels good.  And if it doesn’t, I won’t.)

No eating rules. I promise not to eat a single thing because it’s good for me, but rather to let enjoyment lead the way to and through each and every meal.  I will listen to what this body wants and do my best to honor it.

(And I also promise to enjoy every single bite of chocolate all year long.)

New metrics.  I intend to focus less on the numbers (revenue, traffic, subscribers, sales) and more on what really matters to me: connections, impact, enjoyment.

Speak up. I promise to continue speaking my mind, even when it’s not popular.  (And I intend to get even better at being true to myself, not just ruled by rebellious tendencies.)

Body love. I promise to practice even more appreciation and love for this amazing body carrying me through this stunningly fantastic world.

People love. I intend to love my fellow creators like they deserve to be loved – fully and unconditionally – starting with the guy I make my home with.  (Oh wait, I’m starting with my self and my body first, but he’s right up there, too.)

Contrast love.  I intend to let other people’s contrast be theirs and not be bothered when mine isn’t theirs.  (Sometimes I try to convince others to get upset with me; no more of that.)  I intend to get even better at leveraging my contrast, to enjoy the dips and valleys and get back to an even sweeter sweet spot than it was pre-contrast.

Fueled by inspiration. I promise to act even faster on inspiration, and question that inspiration much much less.  I promise to follow the whispers (along with the shouts) of my heart.

Life love. I intend to enjoy being me and crafting this gift of a life.  I will enjoy seeking out more new ideas, information, perspectives and things (and movies and books and music and food and scenery) – enhancing my growth and expansion.  I intend to laugh more often (and maybe even louder) than ever before.  I intend to love this life like I won the lottery to be here.  And I intend to find more reasons and excuses to love this world.

* * * * * * * * * * *

With that, I have to say … I feel another fabulous year in store!  🙂

Here’s to 2011 and all the delicious things we will do with it!

If you care to share your intentions or resolutions for the new year, you know I’d love to hear them …

  1. Speaking of articles about how to start the new year right, I LOVED this from Mike Dooley’s TUT note yesterday (www.tut.com):

    1. Give thanks that life is… just as it is (and that it’s been… just as it’s been). Because of it, you’re now “READY.”

    2. Define what you want in terms of the end result. Don’t worry about the hows, or even the course. KNOW that what you want is ALREADY yours in spirit, by divine LAW, just focus on the certainty of this ownership, understand it, claim it, and “it will be on earth, as it is in heaven (spirit).”

    3. LET THE UNIVERSE show you the way via your impulses and instincts that appear as you take inspired action. Don’t worry that your first steps seem silly or futile. And if you don’t know what to do, do anything! Go! Get busy! Do not insist on intermediary successes, only upon the end result.

  2. Awesome intentions!!! Mine are…

    Be a Firework,
    Be Decisive,
    Delve into Source Energy,
Radically follow what feels good in terms of Business,
Do it MY way even if “the successful people are doing it THIS way”,
Create and have fun instead of creating for money and success,
Create a coaches club to help new coaches turn into fireworks,
Not buy any more info products,
Keep following my fun factor and
Do what I do best – be ridiculously happy and inspired and childlike and over enthusiastic for no reason at all 🙂 🙂

I am committed to all this and living intentionally in 2011! Note: no income or subscriber or stats goals either! Ha! Fun, funnity, fun!

  3. Teehee! I TOTALLY copied that TUT note into my 1st post for 2011 where I talk about my words and intentions (and the Fireworks video)! http://www.yourlifeyourway.net/2011/01/01/hello-youre-a-firework/

Oh and I wanted to add – connect, connect, connect as my # 1 Intention. The doing it my way = having a .net url instead of a .com cos the .com was taken – how very suicidal and revolutionary of me ;)!

HAPPY NEW YEAR GVUers!! Much love!!

  4. Jeannette says:

Tia, I LOVE your “radically follow what feels good” – love love LOVE it!! Or should I say, “fun funnity, fun”! lol

    Thanks for posting, Tia!

  5. sara says:

Hmmmm, very nice intentions Jeannette. What I like the most is how you’re creating your own rules…not only being aware of what you want, but giving yourself the framework to make it happen.

This year I came across the idea of picking a single word to represent what I want my year to be about. (http://www.christinekane.com/word/wordoftheyear.html) I liked how it felt less like pressure and more about creating my own compass of sorts that I could use to guide me.

My word for 2011 is “breakthrough”…as in breakthrough my internal barriers, breakthrough my limiting beliefs, breakthrough for my business. Of course after picking that I heard someone say, “A breakdown always preceeds a breakthrough.” and then I KNEW it was the right word for me!!!!

Ha, ha, ha. That said – HAPPY NEW YEAR!

    • Yeah, I linked to that very article in the post, Sara. (Two of Christine’s posts, actually.) I think she wrote it in ’07 but I noticed on facebook many folks are practicing it this year, too. It is highly inspiring.

      Big yay for breakthroughs! 🙂

  6. Toemaas says:

I intend to stay connected to the flow of the Universe and allow source to be source as me!! Yeah, that’s what I’m going to do…….and send my love to you, feel it!!

  7. Nice one, Toemaas – and thanks for the love!

  8. Janette says:

I intend to totally steal Jeannette’s intentions for 2011!

No, wait – my single word for 2011 is “authentic”!

    Brain scramble!!!! :-O

    Heheheheh.

  9. We are of like minds, Janette. Authenticity is a big deal for me EVERY year. Thanks for popping in to share!
    🙂

  10. I love your rules, Jeannette, and TUT’s–I printed that one out too when I got it. 🙂 And Tia’s! “Radically follow what feels good” is the reason my only intention for this year (which pretty much includes all the other good stuff) is to BE TRUE TO THE FUN AND TRUTH OF MY “I AM.” I’m boldly sharing this link because it says it better than I can: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zg8rJ5rc7JE

Ducky and I wish you all your readers a WAG-FULL 2011!!

  11. Thanks for the well wishes, Ande – and the link, too!

    Going there next! 🙂

  12. MissyB says:

    My intentions are:
    to have even more fun
    to feel it all
and to focus on everything with passion and excitement

  13. Sounds like a great year to ME, MissyB! Can’t go wrong with fun, passion and excitement!

Can’t wait to see how it manifests for you. 🙂

  14. Zoe Routh says:

Jeannette – we must have ben sharing the brain yesterday – I wrote my intentions on a blog post too: http://zoerouth.blogspot.com/2011/01/2011-intentions.html

My word of the year is (actually two): Abundance and Joy

    Happy New Year everyone!

  15. Zoe, I saw yours right after I posted!! We do that a lot, huh?! lol

Great post – thanks for sharing the link here! 🙂

  16. Jeannette,]
I think the intentions “wavelength” has been flowing for many of us. I wrote out my intentions yesterday too. I decided that this year I would do the things that make me feel good, rather than the things I think I’m supposed to do. Thinking this way makes a big difference in how I approach these desires. It has a lighter feel and seems more doable.

Happy New Year to you. Thank you for all the excellent information and wisdom you’ve shared with us this year.

    Angela Artemis

  17. Yay for dropping “supposed tos” and embracing “feel goods,” Angela!

I am going to join you in that. 🙂

Thanks for posting and happy new year!

  18. Madisen says:

Oh how fun! My intentions for this year of 2011 are as follows:
I will follow my “gut” more!
Speak my mind/heart more, (just like you said, even if it my idea is not the most popular)
Play more! And know the power of it!
Be more intentional with Deliberate Creation (but also be more playful with it at the same time!)
Find (or should I say create) more like-minded friends and stay in touch with them
Have more adventures–not be shy or scared of taking ‘risks’
Be in the Vortex as much as possible!
    Thanks for the post! 🙂
    Maddie

  19. Maddie, I like your whole list, and this one spoke particularly strongly to me:

“Be more intentional with Deliberate Creation (but also be more playful with it at the same time!)”

I am SO copying you on that!!

    Thanks for it. 🙂

  20. This is a fantastic list; I especially like “new metrics.” I have four clear intentions for 2011:

no more faux friendships; we all deserve to have happy, genuine people in our lives

speak up and then speak again; too often I clam up to avoid conflict; disagreeing isn’t conflict, it’s the opening to a great discussion and new ideas; this year, I’m going for it

step outside the box; change only comes when we try something new

take my camera everywhere; I’m a photographer, this only makes sense and to help me with this, I’ve started Project 365 where I take (and post) a picture every day.

  21. Woo hoo, Kimberly!! “it’s the opening to a great discussion and new ideas; this year, I’m going for it”

2011 is already looking better knowing it’ll have your clear voice in it more than ever before!

    (Not to mention photos!) 🙂

  22. Anonymous says:

Fully inspirational, Jeanette! Talk about taking the pressure out of resolutions and supercharging them by making them fun and full of flavor!! 🙂

  23. Anonymous says:

And sorry for spelling your name wrong!! 🙂

  24. Yeah, “pressure out” is always a good idea, huh, Michael?

Nice to see you here and happy new year to you & Gabe! 🙂

  25. Berta Bauer says:

    Be giving without expectations
Be happy with all that is pleasing
Contain the contrasts and use them to cue my shift to joy

Thanks all for help distilling down my intentions into what I really want.

    Berta

  26. Could not have said it better, Berta: “Contain the contrasts and use them to cue my shift to joy”

and what a great year that will make for!

Thanks for posting, my friend. 🙂

  27. Sue Dyson says:

My theme for 2011 is FEARLESS. As in, moving through what comes to me regardless of whether I’m feeling fearful or not. It’s appearing because I attracted it, so this year I feel the fear and do it anyways. Life will always have that element of trepidation in it since we are always growing and expanding our being. I may not ever get over feeling fearful about the newness, but I’m going to keep moving forward anyways!

  28. What a great example you set, Sue, that fear will not stop you. I love that you’re not requiring it to be gone, rather just not letting it spoil your fun.

    Woot!

  29. Intuitive Girl says:

My favorite of your intentions is having no eating rules. Getting rid of all the ‘should haves’ and ‘should dos’ is one of my intentions too.

  30. Suzie Cheel says:

    Hi Jeanette,
I love your intentions. So far I been tossing around a few words and came up with Manifesting Magic and then like Zoe and Tia have written about that http://suziecheel.com/will-you-manifest-magic-in-2011/

You have now inspired me to apply the magic follow TUT and do as Tia says radically follow what feels good- let go of what should…….. etc
    Thanks for the inspiration
    with love
    Suzie

  31. M says:

Hi all! I have no good intentions :o)
My only intention is to feel good, to feel love as often as possible – to fight less futile fights. Not easy for me as an Aries person – but I love it 🙂

  32. Pernille Madsen says:

I love this thread; it’s so filled with positive expectations, hope, inspiration, excitement and GOOD VIBES 🙂

Here are some of the things I would like to see happen in 2011:

I wake up every morning feeling in love with life, in love with myself, thrilled to be alive, curious as to what gifts this day will bring, expecting the best, willing to step out of my comfort zone, eager to learn and to teach, following my feelings and inspiration, taking full responsibilty for my own vibration, completely trusting the Universe and my own creative powers, living fully, loving openly and enjoying every moment 🙂

I welcome contrast into my life; I appreciate its value and love the opportunity to gain clarity and launch desires; I remember that I came here to experience contrast!

I see the best in every person (including myself) and in every situation

Connecting more with my non-physical guides and helpers

    Feeling like a Manifesting Queen
