Q&A: When Manifestations Go Poof

May 8, 2013 | 26 Comments »

when manifestations disappearEver had the experience of acknowledging to others something really cool that’s manifested, and then it seems to go poof immediately after?

I have, and it’s why I selected this reader question to get your input on.  Here’s Stacy:

I have a problem that I just know you can help me with …

When I get excited about something that has manifested, it seems to go away!

For example, I started offering a new course this year.  It has been slow to pick up so when I get new enrollments, I get really excited and tell my husband and best friend.  Then it’s like I don’t get new customers for ages again or the new ones cancel – almost like talking about it undid the manifestation?

And because it has happened more than once, I feel like it is becoming a belief.

If you have written about this, maybe you could point me in the right direction to something helpful.

Guys, I’m pointing to you now as our helpful resource.  What’s your take on this?

  1. First intuitive hit on this one: is it possible that “I can’t believe this finally happened” vibration (thoughts/words/actions) is being activated?

Sometimes I’ve seen this when a client has been trying HARD to create something. They almost *hold their breath* for it to happen again, suddenly putting a lot of attention on ‘is it ready yet?!?’ instead of an easier feeling along the lines of, “of course, just as expected…wonderful! Thank you!”.

I am sensing this person is a wonderful manifestor, but the combination of ‘can’t believe it finally happened’, then taking score too soon/too often, as well as the stories that are being created around these scenarios could be blocking the flow.

The GOOD NEWS: what the mind and vibration has created, the mind and vibration can shift! 🙂 Nothng is fixed in stone, unless we believe it is.

Just heard this Rumi quote and it seems so appropriate:
“Why do you stay in prison
when the door is so wide open?

Move outside the tangle of fear-thinking.
    Live in silence.”

    Many blessings,
    Nancy

This is interesting, because this happened to me recently with my “almost” job.

    To recap..

I had resistance to this job I applied to, but they were the only ones who called me in for an interview. After the interview, I became quite excited and there was no doubt in my mind I was getting this job and it was going to be fun.

Then right before I was hired officially, the store decided to close down.

I was pretty confused because I was feeling so sure of it.

I just chalked it up to there being something better around the corner.

As for Stacy, my only observation is that she might be in a state of expectation about this now. She’s had evidence in her life that this happens, and so now it’s becoming a belief/thought pattern for her reality. Perhaps her only way to break that spell is to fall back on some LOA basics regarding what to do to become a match to what we want instead of responding to our reality.

Or along the lines of what Adam Savage’s shirt likes to say: Reject your reality and substitute your own 🙂

  3. Ashley says:

My first clue here was your observation of the “slow coming enrollments”. Perhaps the fact that once you received these new enrollments, because they were slow coming, maybe your vibe was focused more on the lack of clients. So much that the universe responded and the clients you had, cancelled. It wasn’t “the talking about it and being excited” that cancelled your manifestation. It was the vibration you were sending out while talking and thinking about it.

However, this is a great gift, you see, if that was the case, your focus and clarity was so strong in sending out a vibration of lack. Now that you know what a skilled manifestor you actually are, imagine if you turned that around deliberately focusing and feeling only what you do want.

    Example:

I choose 10 clients. There are millions of people in the world. Starting with 10 people is easy. I appreciate the fact that these people have chosen to learn from me. I am a great teacher and give all my clients the best program!

    Or something like that 🙂

    Hope this helps!
    P.S. What is the course?

    Have a great day everyone!!!!!!!!!

The same thing happened to me and I was by no means feeling as if it was slow or hard to believe it was happening. I had a large amount of money due to pay out to me from an investment and was given the payout date. I was actively looking to buy property, furnishings a car etc with some of it. I had no thoughts about it not paying out, it was mine and due. It didn’t cross my mind that this would happen as I invested with the same people before and had no bad experiences. Then *poof* “oh the money has disappeared, looks like they had a fake business front and took it out of the country.” Still reeling… what was that about?

  5. JG. says:

What I wonder about is the “on/off” vibe: I want something; It is ON!… Ohh, now it is OFF!
It is like there are really TWO wishes that cancell themselves. One of them is clearly conscious. So, maybe there is also an unconscious one? Another one, which bonds to the former in not a very clear way?

For example, I may want more clients, but they will be time consuming and I relish my spare time.
Or I do want more money, but I believe rich people are not very nice. And I AM nice!
    And so on…

Probably one way out of it is asking oneself how this “undesired” outcome may fulfill a wish. And see if or how this makes good sense…

  6. JG. says:

    Sorry:
More accurately I meant: “It is like there are really TWO fulfilled wishes, but one that cancells the other.”

  7. Jeannette —

You bring up the best issues! I’ve had the same experience. I also have some areas of my life in which I’m almost impossibly fortunate — always. Then there are other areas in which my ambivalence or uncertainty about the outcome seem to lead to manifestation gyrations.

I once read of a runner who experienced severe cramping in one leg . . . who then thought of fixating on how well the other unaffected leg felt, how natural, how fluid, how strong . . . and then focused on ‘transferring’ that same feeling to the painful leg. It worked for him.

Which causes me to think of playing with this idea: of ‘transferring’ that almost casually nonchalant satisfied feeling about a solidly good area in my life to an uncertain area.

Nancy — Affirming Spirit — thank you for your above thoughts. They made an impact on me —

  8. I am loving all of the responses gathering here! You guys are the best!

It seems to me there are a potential variety of contributing factors, depending on the person and the situation – and obviously the vibe.

For some reason it gives me great comfort to know I’m not the only one who experiences this. lol

Thank you again for posting, everyone! And to Stacy for giving such a great opportunity to gather community insights on an interesting LOA phenomenon.
    🙂

PS – love the idea of “transferring,” Evan!

  9. Janette says:

I totally relate to this story!!

After struggling (no, seriously, I mean stuck in quicksand struggling LOL!) to ‘find clients’, I took the advice of someone whose opinion I very much respect – to find something that I only do for fun and explore whether it could become a part of my business.

Woohoo! Yes, there was the perfect thing! Something I’ve been doing for fun, for many years, that could totally be turned into something I could offer potential clients.

I created a whizzbang super-fast sales page for it, hit publish and (really, truly) forgot about it. And within an hour someone paid full price for it and WOOHOO!!! – I was on fire, on track and super excited!!

And then….. I told my hubby, told my coach, told the world. I sent out a newsletter to my peeps. I put links on Facebook and Google+ and Twitter and LinkedIn. I offered a discount to my inner circle to encourage them to take it up. I got super excited about this fabulous new manifestation and the opportunities it seemed to allow.

You guessed it. After an initial surge, the flow slowed to a trickle and then completely dried up. And I totally know why.

Because I made that fun thing, which I only ever did because it brought me joy and delight, responsible for turning my whole business around and saving the day. Talk about pressure! And talk about activating the energy of desperation… yikes!!!

Thankfully I can now see the funny side of it, imagining this offering a little bit like a colt having a saddle put on for the first time….. “Are you kidding??? You want me to do what?????” LOL.

I’ve let it off the hook, by the way. I do still offer it, but I’m only doing it when it feels like fun.

Stacy, you are not alone! 🙂

  10. Most of the comments so far have downplayed the talking-about-it aspect of this story. In spiritual teachings, this principle is called The Law of Silence. For example, a writer who spills her plot to someone will lose the energy to write her book. Tend the sacred trust of your newly budding heart. It is a precious time when you are still inhaling. Outflow only later, when you are ready to exhale.

  11. Julie, that reminds me of the guest post where Frank Butterfield was quoting something from Florence Scovel-Shinn, I believe, about the importance of keeping it to ourselves.

(Things that make you go hmmm …)

Thanks for chiming in with this reminder, Julie!

  12. Stacy says:

Oh you fabulous people! I am giggling at the different stories about how your manifestations have gone poof too, it’s not just me! The main thing is that we are learning from it all.

The law of silence – another thing I said to Jeannette is that when I am excited about manifestations, there is no way I am going to be able to keep quiet about it! But perhaps I need to learn to keep my lips sealed a little longer?

The course is swimming teaching – I do it because I absolutely love teaching, especially under 6’s 🙂

What I get from this is that I am a magnificent manifestor and I just need to pay more attention to the vibe I am sending out (I am learning too that this manifesting thing can be a little fickle, it doesn’t take much to do or undo something!).

So, to that end, I am truly grateful for the awesome little customers I have and so excited about the next 10 signing up! 🙂

Thanks to you all for your awesome insights!

  13. Jess says:

I think its about getting attatched to the outcome. in these circumstances she described it wasn’t completely manifested yet. its sort of like how an overattached boyfriend/girlfriend isn’t “attractive” 😉

  14. Kim Falconer says:

    Hi Stacy,

You have some fabulous answers here. I appreciate all of them!

My comment is along the lines of Julie’s Law of Silence. It’s not only a spiritual teaching, it is the premise of ritual magic (of which the ‘deliberate creation’ that we practice is a version of – aligning our vibration with what we want to bring into manifestation – that’s witchcraft baby!)

In the study of witchcraft, the art of ‘keeping silent’ is practiced. Other people’s doubts, whether spoken or picked up on vibrationally or through body language, can turn our thoughts toward other beliefs. It is also taught that discussing a spell (something that you are intending to manifest) with someone not directly involved in co-creating it, diminishes it’s energy – like diluting it, watering it down.

Something to think about, especially if you want to practice shifting your vibration on this one.

Let us know how you go!

  15. Stacy says:

Thanks Kim. I have suspected for a while that perhaps sharing my excitement could be seen by Universe as “bragging” so perhaps if I keep that in mind, I’ll remember to keep my big mouth shut!

    🙂

  16. Stacy, now that you add that comment, I will mention something I didn’t before because I don’t think you’re this way. But could it be that by getting excited and telling the story, you are turning the vibration from caring about the person to caring about the conquest? That’s a bald-faced way of saying what probably feels more like “Oh wow, I can’t believe I did it!” So in effect this would be dissing the person, vibrationally, compared to how you had connected before taking credit for the win.

  17. I have been there and for me it is all about “grasping”. When I feel I don’t have enough people I latch on to a “newbie” and I think the desperation closes of gratitude and allowing. I have also learned that once I feel a success, I show thanks then start pre-paving my next adventure.
I think the key is lightness….even in the face of no clients, no prospects, etc…eventually, I believe everyone’s vibration will clean itself up….the more “with the program” you are, the faster it will happen.

  18. There are so many good answers here! I think that sometimes we just slip back into our old thought patterns and that’s when we need to be sweet to ourselves and remember, if we created it once we can to it again. I knOw I paid of all my credit cards last summer and I was so happy. Yep, done with that and then I had to use them this winter when things got slow, but I paid them off last summer and I’ll do it again. Now my vibratin of “no debt” is getting even stronger, so I can let it go for good this time, but I’m no keeping score unless it’s in my favor. 🙂

  19. Deborah says:

I love these answers! This is all so enlightening and enormously helpful. Thank you!

  20. Jackie says:

We just had something similar happen in our lives. It was a really big thing that looked sure. However, I quickly realized that what we were looking at would not have been the best thing for us. We have refocused and something even better is happening now.

I think when things like Stacey describes happen, it’s because we just aren’t in alignment with the manifestation so it doesn’t quite gel. There is some resistance there that we haven’t quite dealt with.

  21. That actually hits home for me personally, Jackie. Kind of like I’m still getting used to the vibration of “it” or having it, if you know what I mean. As in, being with this success is still a fairly new place, so my wavering in it is reflected in my reality.

    hmm.

  22. Nicole says:

I have the answer for everyone, because I just got a MAJOR test of this in my life, and I’m blown away by how quickly and powerfully the results/reversal materialized.

    1) POUR love and compassion into the whole situation. Love the situation of seeing a “bump” in the road. Love it HARD! Love the universe for giving you this opportunity (that you just can’t see clearly through right now) to either shift or get rid of some resistance. Difficult to do? Well, love it BECAUSE it’s hard to love! (PS try lovingkindness meditation for it too)

    2) Be completely and lovingly authentic with yourself and the people around you. Do not be afraid to express your feelings, your wants, your needs, your desires. Just do it from a place of really genuine love, not anger or fear! If you can find that spot, guaranteed, there will be tiny little opportunities presented to express yourself in precisely the ways that other people will be able to hear and feel.

And then sit back, relax, and watch your physical world shift into an even-better state that the original you slipped away from.

    Nicole

  23. Nicole — Of course! Sheesh — can’t believe I didn’t think of that. Several of my direst predicaments of recent years were resolved this way.

Would you be willing to share the specifics of how it worked on your MAJOR test . . . or is this too much to ask from a fellow digital blip in the bliposphere?

    Evan

  24. Sheri G. says:

I am dealing with a very similar situation right now. I love, Love LOVE Nicole’s comment. Of COURSE that’s the right approach. That’s always the right approach. Shower everything with love, no matter what, cause it’s ALL good.

  25. Lisa D says:

Wow, these are great replies! I too have had this happen. A few years ago I was laid off and manifested 4 different people who were writing grants and wrote me in for a job doing what I thought I wanted to do. Two of them were ‘sure things’. You guessed it – POOF!! No jobs.

For me a part of my practice is letting go what I think I want in the moment, to allow for what wants to come through me (or what is actually in my highest good in the long term). I was excited about this type of job so I manifested a bunch of opportunities, but NOT getting any of these jobs was the best thing that ever happened to me.

  26. That’s such a good reminder, Lisa, that something going “poof” might actually be in our highest interests.

    Thanks for chiming in!
