13 Guiding Principles about Money

These are the guiding principles that form the basis of my work with money.

It’s what I’ve learned through my personal manifesting experiences, as well as through my coaching work with fellow creators.

These principles also serve as the foundation of The Money Aligner course that starts January 4th at GVU:

  1. Money isn’t as important as we make it out to be.
  2. Making money important doesn’t actually help manifest it.
  3. Money can’t make us happy (or free or peaceful or secure). That’s our job, not money’s.
  4. There is plenty for everyone. (Your abundance doesn’t create someone else’s lack.)
  5. Money is way easier and more fun than most of us have learned it to be.
  6. You can attract money even in the presence of doubt and fear. (We’re working with a very forgiving system – we don’t have to get it 100% perfect to get results.)
  7. The process slows up when we try to figure out how or make it happen ourselves. (That’s Universe’s job, and it’s way better at it.)
  8. Relaxing about money makes you a better match for it. (Many believe if they stop worrying about money, things will get worse. The fact is worries don’t help.)
  9. There is a direct connection between your joy and your money. (Getting happy is good for your bank account.)
  10. Your financial fears or money problems don’t go away by creating more money. (If you’re dialed on money problems, you’ll have them no matter how much you have.)
  11. Money is spiritual. Just like everything else. It’s okay to want it and it’s okay to have it.
  12. It helps to be as good at letting money go as you are at letting it in. (Anything else slows the flow.)
  13. Letting money in is a skill worth practicing, since most of us aren’t great receivers. (We’re good givers, but our receiving muscles aren’t as well-developed.)

Bottom line: what you believe about money is what you manifest.

If you want a different financial experience, you’ll need different money thoughts.

If you’d like support in doing that, that’s what we’re doing this year at GVU. The Money Aligner course starts Wednesday, January 4th, but you can join any time to receive access to pre-recorded material and notes.

How to join GVU: new members can enroll for a three week trial for just $1, and continue at $27/month or $170 for the full year. Annual members receive a complimentary private coach session with me anytime during the year. (My regular rate for private sessions is $300.)

This didn’t make the list, but it’s a big belief that serves me and everyone I get to play with this year:

I believe we have never been better positioned to receive the bounties that await us. I believe 2017 is bursting at the seams to deliver us everything we’ve been wanting, and more.

And I believe just a little alignment effort will go a long way in allowing those goodies in.

To your success!

Ahhh, perfect timing as always! Yay Jeannette!

  • Sandra says:

I kind of have to agree with Jokey above. Sorry folks, but having money helps to keep me happy. Would I really be “happy” if I were starving, homeless, sick all the time because I couldn’t afford to take care of myself (gym membership, healthy food, vitamins, supplements, etc), no access to healthcare because I don’t have insurance? No, I would not. And I am okay with saying having money makes me happy. To state otherwise just doesnt sit right with me personally. It’s like I’m lying to myself. And why would I want to do that? 😊

  • Jokey says:

I disagree completely, more money always makes me happier. I have seen a lot of people that have had a lot of money for many years claim that it doesn’t, but I think they just say that because they forgot what it was like not to have much. To me more money will always make me happier, and has always made the people I personally know happier. Money runs the world and controls everything.

  • Gwen says:

Love it Jeannette, For me 9 and 10 ring the most true. I appreciate the reminders and guidance!

Big Love for what you bring to the table!!! xoxoxo 🙂

  • Fen says:

Over the years I’ve many times been confused and frustrated with the way I’ve understood what you were saying. It seemed to me to be contradictory, like “you’re saying happy joyful exciting things about money but now you’re saying it doesn’t matter and it’s a false trap that just strings you along and I’m foolish for desiring it? But then you yourself have a ton of it and talk about how fun it is?” I felt hurt and eventually just became afraid to talk about things that light me up for fear of being laughed at and feeling belittled as an ignorant foolish person who only THINKS he knows himself.
At first, reading the first couple of points here, I started to feel the same way again. But finally now reading the rest I think I’m gaining a little more understanding of what you mean. I still slightly disagree with the “money doesn’t make you happy” statement (I definitely feel better whenever a chunk of cash lands in my bank account, and I feel a LOT better when I allow myself to imagine an enormous bounty of it), but maybe that isn’t what you mean. I think that isn’t what you mean, and I think I have an inkling of what you do mean. Not sure if you’ve slightly changed your manner of writing or if I’m just a little more lucid on the topic now than I was, but well. Thanks for the teachings over the years. And the podcast.

    • Fen says:

      My favourites: 5. and 11.

    • Jeannette says:

Fen, that money in the bank didn’t make you happy – you made yourself happy about the money in the bank. The reason I know this is that there are people with money in the bank who aren’t happy. The money isn’t doing it – YOU are. And choosing to have our happiness conditional on an external reality is not the best setup for success. I mean, it’s better than being unhappy, but we can do better.
We can choose happiness because we prefer it, period. Not because X, Y or Z is in place.
AND, I’m a fan of money. But I’m not going to change my choice of happiness (because it IS a choice, and when we realize that, we are truly free) just because money doesn’t appear to be at the party. It’s still a party either way. But that’s me, and a long practice to get there. It didn’t happen overnight and it wouldn’t be the preference of everyone else.
Tthe less I need the money to be happy, the happier I am and the more money there is. Funny how it works! You don’t need it; you go about loving life no matter what; and it shows up in droves. 😉

      • Fen says:

I appreciate the elaborations, here and elsewhere. Helps me to understand, which is something I’ve always been driven to do.

        • Jeannette says:

I appreciate your thoroughness and your commitment to understanding, Fen. I’m not sure I’m the best inspiration to get there, but I love hearing from you and seeing your picture in the comments, so thanks. 🙂

  • Sandra says:

I have been embracing #11 in my life for the last few years now. That’s really helped me open up to it. It’s okay to want it, have it and yes even like it! Money is a good friend to me! I also think gratitude is important. One of my favorite affirmations: “Thank you Universe for my current state of financial fitness! ” 😊

  • Loved this! I totally agree with you that 2017 will be the year of abundance, it’s only been 3 days into the new year and the amount of signs pointing in that direction are… well, a lot!
For me, January is the month where I focus on aligning with all this new abundance and you are such a wonderful inspiration Jeannette, thank you so much! 🙂

  • CJ says:

I am vibing with these gems; very helpful re-enforcers and put in a way that sticks to your ribs:)
My faves are #6-8. I love the idea of being able to attract money while in different emotional states and had this pop into my mind just the other day.
I enjoy the reminder to let the Universe handle it for you. “Working it” is one thing but overworking it is so energy expending when I want expanding instead!
Relaxing as a vibrational match for prosperity is another great little nudge from our GVU creator- Thanks for this list Jeannette!

  • Meg says:

I love that this is a baker’s dozen list (which always makes me think of extra and even better).
I am printing this list out and putting it in my office. I love these reminders that it can be fun (#5) and we don’t need to be perfect at it (#6). I also love that I can always play with receiving – I am so good at giving, it follows that I can be as good or even better at receiving! 😀 This course is going to be so much fun.

  • Ming says:

Jeannette, I love this list! I am living proof of number 6. Feel free to use me as an example! 🙂 Looking forward to this year playing with money with you !

    • Joanne says:

….and an example so many of us have benefited from in your group Ming! Thank you.
Looking forward to merging my abundance and money folder even more in 2017 with this course.
