Help with Letting Go

prayer of releaseLast month Namaste Faustino shared this prayer in the comments of another post.

While he used this to release an obsession with a foiled love interest, we could use it any time we need help letting go attachment to a person or thing.

(Including a prospective employer or job, a potential investor or funding source, a baby adoption, a tenant or property, etc.)

Here is Namaste’s story, followed by the prayer:

A long time ago I met a woman named Kelli. She was amazing; we clicked but the next step never happened.

Problem was I couldn’t stop thinking about her. This had never happened to me before so I was at a loss about what to do.

This went on for a really long time and it drove me nuts.

Finally the mother of a friend of mine heard about what I was going through and came to the rescue.

She said, “You need to use the Prayer of Release. All you have to do is say it out loud one time. If this woman is meant to be in your life, you’ll continue to think about her. If she’s not, the desire to think about her will drop away.”

I was willing to try anything so I did.

To my total and complete surprise it worked! I stopped thinking about Kelli and that was that.

I’ve given this prayer to others and seen equally positive results. If I ever have another client who is convinced s/he is meant to be with someone, the prayer is the first place I’d start …

And now for the letting go prayer itself:

I accept all people, places and things that are a part of my path.

I ask that all people, places, and things that are a part of my path come to me.

I release all people, places and things that are not a part of my path.

I ask that all people, places and things that are not a part of my path release me.

I hope this prayer helps bring you peace and allowing next time you’re holding on too tightly. It’s already worked for me!

Wow, those are interesting side effects, Isabel! Kind of makes me realize there might be even more power in those words than I realized!
Kudos on ratcheting down the attachment factor so strongly. I’m sure that opens the path to lots of good things unfolding for you!

For the last two years I’ve been in this intense complicated relationship with one guy (I-could-write-a-movie kind of complicated), we are currently not speaking to each other but I kept thinking about him, so when I got the email mentioning this prayer I was really ready to try it out. I’ve been saying it along with some Ho’oponopono and EFT. I have not complety stopped thinking about the guy but the intensity has gone down from a 9 to a 1 or 2, so maybe he is supposed to be in my life after all and at least this makes it easier to let go, not one of my strengths, and let things play out.
However, there have been some interesting side effects: Two people who used to contact me all the time have stopped doing so all of the sudden, and one old friend has reappeared in my life also unexpectedly.

We see great merit in this prayer, but there might be a little flaw in it. Let’s see if we can explain. All people, places, and things that manifest in your life are a part of your path. Unless you are a vibrational match, they cannot manifest into your reality. This goes for everyone and everything. You have become a vibrational match to it all. Do you need to release it? That depends. If thinking about it feels good, then don’t release it. If thinking about it feels bad, then it might help to release it.
But why release it if it feels bad? Wouldn’t it be more spiritually empowering to analyze the feelings it stirs up and then identify a limiting belief? Maybe yes, maybe no. The nice thing about a bad feeling (any negative emotion) is that it lets you know where you stand vibrationally. The thought you are thinking that causes negative emotion means that you are not thinking about the subject in a way that aligns with what you want. Using this information, you can choose to look at it from the higher perspective (of your inner self) and you’ll feel better about it.
Really, this is your work whenever you receive guidance in the form of emotion. Look at what it is that’s causing the bad feeling, identify the underlining fear that is the basis of a limiting belief, and then soothe yourself by looking at it from the higher perspective. This will reduce the intensity of the limiting belief and in time you’ll start to feel better whenever you think of that subject.
However, when something is too painful and there’s no way to soothe yourself, then we see great benefit in this prayer. Think about what the prayer is actually doing. It’s altering a limiting belief by switching your perspective from one that’s limited to the higher perspective of your inner self. How marvelous is that?
Now that you know that you can do this with anything that causes negative emotion, you have just gained control over your thoughts and feelings. This causes your vibration to raise and you automatically drift downstream toward everything you want. This is the power of alignment.

    Now that sounds just right.

  • Jeannette says:

    Thanks for that suggestion, Namaste.
And Terry, what a practical application of the prayer! lol I love it!

Jeannette- I opened your email containing this prayer immediately after trying to clean my bathtub, when I discovered I had a clog that wouldn’t allow water to drain. I started cleaning the bathtub after my normally perfect laptop suddenly stopped working this morning, preventing me from doing the work I planned. Coincidence? I don’t think so. I said the prayer and am letting things work out as they will.

  • Namaste says:

I’d suggest that you play with it and see what works best for you =)
I tend to use it whenever I feel like it’s time for me to move on to a new situation but something has been holding me back. Last time I used the prayer was in late 2013. I felt my time in Las Vegas was coming to a close but I was holding on because I was scared to move on. The prayer worked, anything that was holding me in Vegas dropped away and I’ve been happily living in Los Angeles ever since.

Hi Jeannette, Namaste & Good Vibers
I have a question for you
Is it best to say this prayer every time you need to let go of something or is a 1 time thing, encompassing all for ever?
