How to Attract Financial Windfalls

Attracting Financial Windfalls with the Abundance ExerciseEarlier this month my friend Melanie Bates shared an abundance exercise I’d never used before.

I played along for fun and ended up manifesting a roughly $10,000 windfall in 10 days.

(My goal was one thousand in ten days, so I was impressed with the results.)

Some of you may be interested in playing with this one, too, soย here’s the “money out of the blue” exercise as I learned it from Melanie (who picked it up fromย Martha Beck):

Get out paper and pen to write out three short lists:

  • The first list is to jot down three times you’ve felt abundant.
  • The second list is for three times you’ve felt generous.
  • And the third list is to document three times you’ve felt ease.

(Easy way to remember the three things is with the acronym AGE: abundance, generosity, ease.)

Conscious creators will recognize the power in conjuring up those particular vibrations! And Melanie says feel free to write down more than three things if so inspired.

Then write down an amount of money you’d like to see manifest out of the blue. Make it a believable amount. (Meaning, don’t choose a million bucks if that’s hard to believe.)

Then write the date you’d like to see this money manifest by and mark that date on the calendar.

Your next step, which may be the most important, is to release attachment and forget about it. Go about your life and continue enjoying yourself, without a thought to how this amount might arrive.

When I did this exercise a few weeks ago I chose a thousand dollars in ten days (because I have a good track record with those numbers).

I was able to forget about it – except for the times I looked at the calendar where I’d written “$1,000 from the ethers” next to a big smiley face.

At first it was easy to feel positive anticipation each time I saw it on the calendar, but as time passed and the date approached I started feeling doubtful, thinking things like, “Is this really gonna work?” and “How’s that gonna happen that fast?”

But I did my best to shrug off those thoughts and follow Melanie’s instructions to go about my business, not worrying about failing the abundance exercise.

The day before my date arrived I was prepping to leave town and needed to wrap up some business paperwork beforehand …

… in the process I discovered I had a nearly ten thousand dollar distribution coming my way. In all my years of solopreneurship nothing like that has ever happened and I certainly never expected it.

In fact, I spent a lot of time puzzling over the forms, wondering how in the world it happened. My situation shouldn’t have warranted this.

Yet there it was.

It took me a minute to realize Universe had delivered on the abundance exercise in spades.

Melanie also had a delightful success, so I’m not alone in having fun with this one.

Disclaimer: this exercise is unlikely to work for anyone desperately needing money, or for anyone who has a hard time giving up control in favor of trusting Universe.

But for the rest of you – have fun with it. ๐Ÿ™‚

So much great information in both the article and especially the comments! I can’t wait to give it a go!
“Blue” money- Love it! Definitely going to use that!

Did this really work? I tried this but it didn’t work. Im so upset

  • Rae Frear - New Zealand says:

    Hello Jeanette
I did do this and put it out of my mind. In two days I received an email from my Accountant telling me I had a tax refund for $1800. I wasn’t expecting a refund – I thought I had to pay some more. So I was completely blown away and majorly thrilled. I have absolutely no doubt that the Universe will provide, In actual fact it just keeps happening. Thank you so much for helping me open my awareness.

  • cbodnaruk@hotmail.com says:

Congrats Jeanette on your windfall but this exercise won’t work for someone who is unemployed and have too much on their hands, that and a high vibration on financial lack is not a good mix.
I think that if you have a job, is physically and socially active then the financial tool you suggested is likely to work like a charm because you are busy being distracted by activities.
Even if you don’t like your job if you go out and have a good time with friends or get a good work out you would end your day on a good note; which would be an advantage to the manifesting process.

    • Jeannette says:

You know, we’re right, no matter what we decide! ‘As you think, so shall it be.’
Here’s to choosing whatever we prefer! ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hi Jeanette
Thank you very much for your response via e-mail and for your kind advice about requesting for “donations” to increase our voluntary charity feeding initiative in rural areas of South Africa. It’s winter season already and people living in informal housing settlements are feeling the effects of colder nights. Many of our people go to bed without meals and that is the sad reality of the sitjuaiton on the ground. Unemployment is putting parents under pressure and children are suffering the ill effects of poverty. I want to make a humble appeal to fellow LOA colleagues to please remeber these poverty stricken families next time the Universe grants you a windfall. Those who are blessed with abundance and share some of it with those in need will receive continued blessings of abundance and prosperity in their lives. Anyone who wants to make a contribution irrespective of the amount can contact me via e-mail or telephone. Nash_GP@yahoo.com or telephone +27 726555599 .
May the Universe bless you and your loved ones abundantly for your kind and selfless act of charity to those in need
    God bless

(Or it could be a hint to aim bigger. That too, ya know.)

  • Jesann says:

I did this exercise with the intention of receiving $5,000 by today, May 31.
I opened my email today to find a spam loan offer of up to $35,000.
That is RIDICULOUS. Though it probably means I should be more specific, like $5,000 in real money, free to me, in perfect, legal, happy ways. I think a few pointers to the universe are OK. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • JM says:

Great, less work that way, lol Thanks Jeannette

  • Jeannette says:

This particular technique calls for you to FORGET IT after you’ve written the list, JM. I think the letting go aspect is where a lot of its power lies, so I’d definitely do my best to completely forget about it after you make the list and set the date.

  • JM says:

Hi, I enjoy your blog coz I always like finding new methods of manifestation. Re this technique, do you write the list once and forget it? Or do you review the list everyday, conjure up those vibes and then let it go for the rest of the day? Sorry if I missed that info in the article or responses.

  • Jeannette says:

With practice projects, I try again.
But a specific exercise like this, I might give it another go after a while (after the sting of “it didn’t happen” passes) just to see if second time’s a charm. And if not, I’ll go to the other processes that I know serve me better.
For example, I know some people get great results from lighting a green candle on an 8 day. (Learned that from Pam Slim, who picked it up from her Native American hubby.) I, on the other hand, never saw anything unfold from it, and I tried a couple times. So I don’t light green candles any more, but God bless everyone else who has fun with them!
It’s like echinacea, maybe. Some people it makes all the difference in the world for. Others of us are better off with EmergenC or something. lol
However, Linda, I’m a little intrigued that you saw results in the opposite of what you wanted. Sometimes that’s a sign of negative stuff getting cleared out as a result of the vibe you activated. So that one might be worth staying tuned to.
If I were in your shoes, I’d continue focusing work however it felt best and trusted that things are on the upswing for me. If I tell that story, Universe HAS to make it true.
And for the record, I’ve had plenty of stuff manifest ‘later’ than expected. It’s one reason I don’t use a lot of deadlines or time frames in my manifesting. Because it often comes right after the date comes and goes. So now I’m just open – it’ll be when it wants to be and I’m lovin’ life in the meantime. Not sweating when and if it shows up. Know what I mean?
I would never say ‘It didn’t happen.” That’s never an instruction Universe is going to get from me. At least, not when I’m in my right LOA mind. Because I like to leave those doors wide open. Whatever I want is in the process of unfolding right NOW.
As I say it, so shall it be. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • LindaA says:

    Hi, Jeanette:
I am also in the category of nothing happened. In fact, my finances took a nosedive: unexpected expenses, payment of invoices delayed, etc. I have to say that I did a pretty good job of not thinking about this. And I tried to keep an open mind about the infinite ways it could appear. Well one of the infinite ways is not appearing at all!
I find it hard to just say “it could happen any time” after being a couple of weeks “past due” on the windfall. Is that what you do if your manifesting effort doesn’t work, just say never mind? It’s all good?
Is it advisable to try again?

  • Jeannette says:

    Thanks for that link, Beth!
oana, I’m a fan of never concluding that something that I wanted “didn’t happen.” Because #1, that’s not the reality I want to collapse, and #2, it could happen today! or tomorrow – as long as I keep the door open for it.
I remember Jack Canfield saying something like – when he’d have a big goal he wanted to see manifest within a year, that even if it took 5 years he was still happy about that, because it’s better than never happening at all.
It’s also a good reminder to us not to have our feelings/emotions conditional on what’s happening out there. As in, I’m fine either way! That helps keep the doors open for its manifestation, too.

  • oana says:

Thank you very much, Beth! ๐Ÿ™‚
Today I received unexpectedly money from my mom which represents 1/3 of what I wanted and of what I had written down on my paper.
P.S. I am really sorry for my spelling and grammar mistakes, I am from Romania and I am studying, in this period of time, English:)

  • Beth says:

This is a message from Abraham about feeling disappointed, with an example from Esther’s life. It has helped me tremendously with the feeling of disappointment when something I wanted “doesn’t happen”. From this, I’ve learned to simply say “I don’t deserve to feel disappointed” and move on to something that makes me happier. I hope it helps you too!

It didn’t work for me.Today was my deadline, but nothing happened.I am a bit disappointed. ๐Ÿ™

Thanks Jeannette! Remember when I first started working with you and I was in complete lack-of-vacation meltdown mode?! I have raised my vibration to “stay-cation or vacation: who cares? As long as I’m happy”. Yay!

  • Jeannette says:

I love how Universe plays with you (and you with it), Beth!
Congrats on the win and have fun in the Bahamas!

  • Beth says:

This was perfect timing because I wanted to play more money games. I did this one right away, but I gave myself a deadline that was over a week away. I asked for $3000 in spending cash. In three days, I received an all-expenses paid trip for four to the Bahamas! Haha. Not what I asked for but I’m not complaining! I haven’t figured out the price of the trip yet to see how it compares to my request…but I’m going to the Bahamas for the first time this July! Which also means I’m finally getting my passport which I’ve always wanted, and my husband is finally going to bring us to Atlantis which is what he always wanted. Win, win, win!

  • Vicki says:

As soon as I received this blog post the other day I made my 3 lists and my amount and date. On I went with my day. The very next day my partner gets a letter in the mail about an inheritance which was most unexpected. Technically his money is my money and vice versa and if we halved that amount mine is the exact amount I asked for the day before ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank you.

  • Jeannette says:

Absolutely! No need that they be related to money. All we’re looking to do is activate the vibrations, the subject that helps us get there isn’t what matters. (In fact, some may find it easiest to think of topics that are very unrelated to money.)
Have fun with it, Ash! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • ash says:

so Jeannette this means the 3 things need not be related to money, even if i want to manifest financial-windfalls?

  • Jeannette says:

you bet, Ash. Here’s a list off the top of my head …
I felt abundant when I offered to help my friend out with his dog who needs surgery.
I felt abundant when I slept in this morning with my kitty cat.
I felt abundant when I gave the dogs extra treats today.
I felt generous when I did a pro-bono coach session this week.
I felt generous when I gave myself a big stack of new books to read.
I felt generous when I gave the magpies a cup of peanuts today.
I felt ease when I did yoga last night.
I felt ease when I did that pro-bono session.
I felt ease when I had a pre-made salad from the deli for dinner.
I’d love to read others’ lists, too, if you care to share! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • ash says:

If you dont mind can you give a few examples of:
    three times youโ€™ve felt abundant.
    three times youโ€™ve felt generous.
    three times youโ€™ve felt ease.

    My Dear Sweet Angel Jeannette,

  • Ali says:

    Thanks Jeannette!

  • Jeannette says:

The way that worked for me was not thinking about it at all. Or at least trying not to.
But Nicole’s comment makes sense, as long as you can think about it without triggering thoughts (like happened to me when I saw the date approaching on the calendar) of doubt.

  • Ali says:

I guess I’m trying to find out if that is how she did it when it actually worked. The list of items does feel great, but when the money was manifested, was that the process she used? Thanks!!

  • Nicole says:

    Hi Ali,
I just spent about 10 minutes looking at my list because thinking about my A, G, & E’s feels so good. I think it’s such a nice fringe benefit, why wouldn’t I want to dwell on my list?

  • Ali says:

Are you supposed to look at your list daily and feel these feelings? Or do you forget about the list and the money all together? Thanks for this!

  • Jeannette says:

Glad you’re having fun with it, C!
In fact, get this – I was talking to Melanie last night where I mentioned my physical health intention, where I instruct my body to “Thrive, Optimize, and Beautify.” I told her what was unfolding in my life as a result of those three instructions, and she had the brilliant idea for me to amp up those three vibes to writing down three things to activate Thriving, three things to activate Optimizing, and three things to activate Beautifying.
I loved the idea of switching this exercise up to meet whatever intentions we might hold for our lives!

  • C. says:

I just did mine and I’m so totally looking forward to it!
I set the date for Friday, May 1, 2015. I’m taking a big leap with that date, but that is the date that feels right and what I’m looking forward too!
I feel so good doing this! It’s not too often a LoA exercise gets me this excited! I guess because this post of yours, Jeannette, came at the right time!
    I’m so excited and I just can’t hide it!!! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

  • Jeannette says:

Judy, I know what you mean about worthiness. I may or may not have had a little hiccup with mine, too. (I had options on how to receive this money, and actually instructed them to hang on to it for a while before I accepted receipt. I did wonder at the time if that was because I have receiving issues or because I’m a smart money manager? lol)

  • Judy Marcellot says:

I like the “blue money” term. It clearly distinguishes it from the money our business brings in which is significantly more than the “blue money.” And we have received “out of the blue” money on more than a couple of occasions and the feeling is distinctly different! Our challenge has been to realize that we are totally worthy of hanging on to large chunks of cash.

  • Jeannette says:

    Yay MsNikki! ๐Ÿ™‚
Nicole, I hadn’t even thought of that! How cool!!

  • Nicole says:

I think it’s really funny that you chose “a thousand dollars in ten days”… because if you receive a thousand dollars in each of ten days that’s $10,000. Universe is sorta literal at times!!

  • MsNikki says:

    It’s on now!

  • Jeannette says:

Crystal, you are practicing conscious creation when you just reach for the thoughts that feel better. Whatever they are. Even if the thought is “this LOA stuff is a bunchacrap.”
Any thought that feels better is a practice of vibration management and will serve you well!
So I’d start finding the thoughts that didn’t feel fearful since we know those are more true for you and will take you better places. And your emotions will point the way! So definitely trust your emotional guidance system.
    Hope that helps! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • crystal says:

Thank you for your reply Jeanette. I’m going to keep reaching for the better feeling thought and soothing myself, following what feels good.

  • crystal says:

    Hi Jeanette,
This sounds like it could be fun to try ๐Ÿ™‚
I’ve been an LOA student for a while, but lately I’ve noticed that reading/listening to a lot of LOA material reactivates negative feelings. Often it feels better to just focus on things that are off the topic of law of attraction. Overall I’ve been feeling pretty good lately, but I still have a little fear that if I do not actively keep studying, my desires will not manifest. Is this normal? Should I keep trusting my emotions?
    Sending joy your way,

  • Jeannette says:

Stacy, Ming calls it “Blue Money” when she manifests money out of the blue like this. I love that term! Plus it’s so fun to experience.
And such a good reminder to us that money doesn’t have to be hard to come by.
Glad we could be cooperative components to deliver your desire for a new money game!

  • Stacy says:

This is some LOA in action – because I’d just been thinking how I wanted to play a game for manifesting money out of the blue. And then you post this particular method!
Hmmm, how much and when? Fun questions to ponder.

  • Jeannette says:

Looking forward to hearing it, Sandeep!
And Kim, “fun” is the definite key – yay for that! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • kim Falconer says:

I am totally having fun with this.
    Thank you!!!!

    Cheers as you celebrate
