It's Not You, It's Me

pointing-fingerThis blog post is for every service provider who’s ever been on the receiving end of my frustration.
(It took me a minute to figure out how to say that other than “every provider who has ever frustrated me.”  Apparently I still have a knee jerk response to point the finger when it seems like something has gone severely awry!)
Anyway, for those of you trying to get your hands on a copy The Art of Self Love, you’ve noticed it’s easier said than done.  (Thanks to those of you persistent enough to either figure it out or to email reporting trouble!)
It looks like Paypal did some sort of system upgrade at the same time I launched this new manifesting solution product.  Because I was using Paypal as my sole method of payment, that means just about everyone who tried to purchase wasn’t able to.
Okay, that’s very cool that I can actually laugh about this today!  Trust me when I say last night I was not laughing.
Last night I was letting my (former) virtual assistant know how disappointed I was in the way she (didn’t) handle this whole process.  And boy, did I feel justified:

  • First of all, I didn’t even have a copy of the formatted ebook before it was up for sale (so I had no idea what people were receiving – had anyone been able to receive it!)
  • second, I had to hire someone else at the last minute to create the web page that she had agreed (and been well paid) to create;
  • third, she outsourced the shopping cart setup which she specifically reassured me would not happen when I hired her;
  • fourth, she missed deadline after deadline in putting all this together (our original date was pre-Valentine’s Day);
  • fifth – can you feel me on this?  It wasn’t pretty.

As I ranted and raved (thank you, Janie and Judy and Iyabo, for letting me – it was just what I needed) about this botched job, even as I ranted about my irresponsible virtual assistant, it felt strangely familiar.
Huh.  “Can’t get my hands on a copy of my own ebook.”  “Can’t get format changes made to it.”  “People who want to buy can’t download.”  “The sales page isn’t how I want it.”  “People I work with let me down.”
Yeah, I’ve been here before.  I know this place.
My assistant didn’t do this; I did.
This is MY vibe.
I know this one from last year with Pray Rain Journaling.  And if I look back further, I’ll find it even older than that, I’m sure.
Wow, it took me a year to clean up my web-developer vibration.  (After hiring my third person and still being frustrated, I realized it’s not them, it’s me.)  Please, Lord, let it not take another year for me to shift this one!
Actually, it already IS shifting!  Look at this (I’m so excited to have evidence of it already!):

the fabulous and amazing virtual assistant I hired to help at the last minute is turning out to be worth her weight in gold.  She’s delivering like no one’s ever seen!  She worked the weekend for me – a virtual stranger – even though she’s got kids and a husband and a life.  She gave the Art of Self Love project her full attention and she’s plugging technology holes and filling delivery gaps I didn’t even know existed!  I told her to change her title to: Susan Marshall, Hero.

And the other assistant that got the outsourced work from the original girl I hired, she’s turning out to be a dream come true, too.  Reasonable, helpful, generous.   Things are shifting!
asl-book1And oh my gosh, can I just say how GORGEOUS this package is?  That’s thanks to Vaughn at Killer Covers!  I got FABULOUS service from Vanessa over there.  And not to mention Dave, the Launch Coach, who gave me great tips in how to give birth to this baby!
And based on a late night email from my original helper, I’m feeling some peace around that relationship, too.
Ahhhh.  Relief.
Satisfaction.  Pleased with results.
This is the vibe I choose.  This is the vibe that attracts all the best players and resources and connections and results.
It’s not you, it’s me. And as Judy and I mentioned on the 3 Biggest Manifesting Obstacles call in response to someone’s question, this isn’t to place fault or blame – just pure clean responsibility where it lies: within.
(If you haven’t listened to the call yet, it’s up for replay and is packed with great Law of Attraction info Good Vibe style.)
We are not victims of shady service providers or corrupt government or unfaithful partners or a depressed economy.  We’re in charge here.
Let’s remember it.  (I say “let’s,” but really this reminder was for me today.)
Love you!  (Service providers especially!)  lol

  • Ha – I’m getting a kick out of the song too, Lori! Thanks for it!
And thanks, Jess, for sharing your process with us here. Lots of others will find comfort in your words, knowing they’re not alone, and following your lead here.
You are a blessing and a gift to everyone. Namaste. 🙂

  • Lori says:

I’m glad the song made you feel better! 🙂

  • Jess says:

Thanks Lori! I have to say it totally was the quick pick me up that I needed. I was sitting here feeling sorry for myself (not very attractive, is it?!) and I just KNEW I had to change this vibe I was in. I felt like Esther in the Abe quote that you posted Jeanette, it is just tooooo HARD.
I knew I could count on Good Vibe Blog to turn me around in a snap! I was feeling sorry for myself because I can’t figure out how I manifested myself out of a job, with 2 mortgaged houses, and finding my support system be anti-LOA (sorry for that profanity.) Honestly, I just wanted to connect the dots. I’m thinking this is SO EASY for me. I am a pro at this… what is going ON?! Almost every single situation I anticipate because I consciously created it! If it isn’t that, then I at least see very quickly HOW my manifesting went haywire. OOps! That was funny! is usually my reaction. Why this time is it such a shock and so HARD?!
I don’t get how it can be hard, while I also KNOW what it is like to be perfectly happy with what is. I have felt it to the core and remember the feelings vividly… yet they were escaping me. THe abe quote and the video…
    getting better in every way…
la la la la la la la love…
Yep. Hit the spot!!! Oh thank god. Now that my vibe is shifting, maybe now I can shift my thoughts about the rest of it. I am trying to find the “It’s not you, it’s me” to my soon to be ex-employer… any thoughts on how to find my connection (which btw, seems to be how I let it go and make peace with it.) Ah! Maybe I want it to much. I guess I need to let go of the need to let go!!!
Thank you again for your trusty blog to lift my spirit! I LOVE the humor. It brings me home to myself. 🙂

  • Lori says:

This isn’t really related to this post, but I had to share it here. It’s the song from the Target commercial (haha!). It’s just so damn catchy and the lyrics are perfect for LOA, so I know you and whoever else reads this will appreciate it.
    Enjoy! XD

  • Ahh, these wise words are echoing in my head, Kelly: “let things unfold as they will.”
Thanks for that! Brings me straight back to the space of allowing!

  • Kelly says:

I KNOW people must be sick of me forwarding quotes from you (I just sent out: “The Universe can only be as good to you as you are to yourself”), blogging about you, calling and saying “listen to this!”. I can’t help it. The response shared about the bus was priceless and reminds me of “let go and let God” which my lovely Christian friends can handle more than Universe. Regardless, it is the same. Do the best you can, point yourself in what you feel like is the best direction and let things unfold as they will.
    Love you Jeannette…

  • Ha! You can take credit for me anytime, Janette. lol
Thanks for the smile and the kind words!
And Amy, you make a good point that it could be just as easy for someone to wear this “responsibility” heavily as “blame” or “fault” instead of “freedom” and “liberation.”
Kudos to you for making the choice you did (and do). 🙂

  • Amy says:

Woo hoo! Way to turn that vibe around fast!!! That was a very inspiring story for me, thank you!
Finding out that what happens in my life is my own doing has been the most liberating experience of my life. My therapist was concerned, at first, that I was going to be in trouble blaming myself all the time with this sort of philosophy. What actually happened, after a couple of years, is that now I am in therapy once a month instead of every or every other week. Soon, I can tell, I’ll be done altogether!
Congratulations on the new book, I’ll be ordering in on audio!

  • Janette says:

I got it, yay! Fabulous packaging, first few pages resonate SO MUCH and I can’t wait to sink my teeth into the rest of its delicious goodness 🙂
Jeannette, I just want to say publicly how much I admire the gracious and honest way you took ownership of everything that’s occurred.
Excuse me while I pat myself on the back for creating people in my life who practise what they preach – being in integrity, taking responsibility and doing it all with good humour.
The proof of your work, my friend, is well and truly in the pudding – you rock!

  • Phillis says:

Hey Lady — love the BLOG — yes, I too tried to purchase and thought that the system was just being fickled . . . . so, I will purchase as soon as I get home! Can’t wait.
Hugs from “The Sub-Arctic” Alaska! Cheers, P.

  • Kevin (SpiritintheVillage) says:

Yes technology, glitches and the law of attraction… sounds like a good title for a blog post.

  • I’m sure you’re right, Kevin!
Hey, someone sent an email with this Abe quote in response to this post, that although long, I thought it worth sharing here:
When you feel that something is wrong, there isn’t anything to do about it other than make yourself stop feeling that something is wrong.
Now stay with us for just a little bit, because this is really important.
You see, still with all that you are coming to know about Deliberate Creation, still what’s stuck in so many of your vibrational craws is: “I still need to control something. The circumstances need to be adjusted in order for things to go well for me.”
That is never, never, NEVER true!!!
ALL you have to do is adjust your vibration.
And so Esther would complain, and this is the deeper and deeper level. She would complain:
“It’s hard to feel good when I see they are doing things wrong.” And then she would take it deeper and say, “But it’s hard to feel good when I FEEL they are doing things wrong.”
Are you staying with us here?
And what we are saying is: It might be hard to feel better when you are seeing things that are going wrong. And it might be hard to feel better when you feel things are going wrong.
But get off the belief system that says, “I’ve got to fix what’s wrong before I can feel better.” and find a way of feeling better before anything’s fixed.
And if you can find a way of feeling better before any of those things are fixed, Law of Attraction will fix those things. But UNTIL you can find a way of feeling better before any of those things are fixed, Law of Attraction cannot fix those things!
And people who can’t buck your current will behave exactly in opposition to how you think they should behave. Not because they don’t like you and not because they are being bad to you, but because they are swept up on the current of your vibration and they are co-creating with you on a level that is not satisfactory to you.
And that feeling in your gut is about your separation from who you really are and what you really want.
It doesn’t have anything to do with them. It doesn’t have anything to do with the circumstances.
    Can you FEEL this???
It’s ALL about cleaning up your vibration.
To make your bus right? No!
To make people like you? NO!
To make them do a better job? NO!!!
Clean up your vibration because it’s the ONLY way you will EVER feel good.
Clean it up because you want to feel good.
We want you all to realize you’ve got to make your vibrational adjustment for one selfish, singular reason. The vibrational adjustment just FEELS better.
[And then they told more of the story about them driving the bus away and discovering it still wasn’t near right and asking them to come to fix it on the road, and they refused. And Jerry tried to encourage Esther to feel
better and she said, “It’s just TOO HARD.” And then when Jerry was on the phone with them she heard Jerry say, ]
    “We GIVE UP!”
And when Esther heard him say, “We give up” she said, “We give up! We give up! Uncle, Uncle, Uncle, Uncle, Uncle, Uncle, Uncle!’ You win! You win!!!
We give up. We give up! We give up! We give up! We give up!”
    What are you giving up?
Are you giving up your desire? Can’t do that!
Are you giving up what’s in your Vibrational Escrow? That’s not even possible, you put it there for all eternity!
    What are you giving up?
We are giving up our belief that we can get to where we want to be by controlling YOU! We give up. We give up!
Ooooooooooooo, it feels so good to give up! We’ll just drive this bus until it won’t move forward. We’ll just point it toward San Francisco, and we’ll just keep going…
And then the indicator lights went off. And then the phone rang and the man said, “Where are you? We’ll meet you, where are you?”
And Esther said, “Gee! We should have given up 3 weeks ago! We should have given up a long time ago.”
And we say, “Just give it up!”
    San Francisco 8-9-08

  • Oh my gosh, the things we make up in our heads, huh Janette?! ha! I’m glad I’m not the only one willing to admit it!!
Again, can I just say how grateful I am to those of you persistent enough to revisit and make the purchase?
I’m not one who has a lot of patience for technical difficulties (and thus maybe that’s the “charge” that I attract them with!) so I am especially super appreciative of you who persevered to purchase.
I’m still cooking up what good stuff I’m going to give you to properly express my thanks!!

  • Yeah, Ms Nikki, that’s why the tag line of this blog is “LOA for the Real World.” It isn’t always a picture perfect smooth journey, huh? he he
At least not for me … YET!
But even if it were .. where’s the fun in that, huh? lol
SO glad I’m still laughing about this!
Thanks for reading and especially for posting, Ms Nikki!

  • Janette says:

ROFL – I’m one of those who got the initial flick from paypal – and I thought that it was ME!
As in – Paypal has decided that I’m not good enough for them, boo hoo… or maybe Jeannette has secretly put me on a list of people who aren’t allowed to get the package yet…
Can you believe it??? OMG, it would be embarrassing if it weren’t so funny!
And isn’t it neat, how at the same time we both manifested a different lesson for ourselves, huh? 😉

  • MsNikki says:

I just wanted to add a comment to Mitch’s post. Thank you Jeanette, Kim Falconer, etc for sharing examples of how even the uber manifestors are still learning the craft! The personal examples are great and I always appreciate folks who can keep their LOA real! This is one of the many reasons that I appreciate the blog and comments!
Hmmmm…this particular blog entry should be mandatory for the majority of the supervisors at my old Gitmo-like atomsphere job! But they are square as hell and couldn’t handle the bent angle of this entry!

  • Iyabo Asani says:

Wow, to watch you go through this was a learning event for me. The book is awesome, the cover is awesome and you are awesome.
I am so proud of you for this.

  • Thanks, Iyabo! It’s a much more enjoyable journey with company like yours along the way.

  • Indeed, Mitch. I don’t want to say our “bad moments” are inevitable … and I like how I can put “bad” in quotes … (with a little distance from it that’s much easier to do) – but I do believe we all have our challenges / opportunities to grow even more than we already have and to master the work of playing with energy.
And I doubt I could have felt this appreciation for it in that red hot moment of it. lol
Thanks for posting, my friend! I love seeing your name here! 🙂

  • Mitch says:

This post, and your self-love call, came at just the time I needed to hear them! It’s nice to hear that even a manifesting guru (that would be you!) has her moments of malfunctioning vibrations. 😉 Sometimes I think that having bad moments will ruin all of my creations-in-the-works. But you and all the other posters here have shown me that it’s less about the bad moments and more about what we do to lift out of them.
I don’t have your new product yet, but judging from the reviews, and also from my first hand knowledge of your awesomeness, I’m gonna have to pick it up soon!

  • Oooh, thanks for sharing that, Kim! I learned that from one of my mastermind members and knew as soon as I heard it that it had huge potential!
Glad you found your way to it and enjoyed the results so swiftly!
ha – can I just say, I like your style? You are the BEST!
Thanks again for chiming in here and sharing that story. Gave me a great big smile! 🙂

  • Kim Falconer says:

This is such a fantastic reminder, Jeannette! Have I ever said, ‘I can’t get enough of you?’ You have a way with words that makes everything fall beautifully into place.
I received my copy of the Art of Self Love with no troubles at all (: he he he ) but when my new love interest ‘couldn’t make it’ to our tentatively arranged dinner last night my vibe went flat like a tier . . . until I noticed all the air leaking out…
What? Letting an external ‘reality’ bring me down? Allow an ‘event’ to introduce self-doubt? No way!!! I wanted a quick shift so I turned to you!
I flipped open the Art of Self Love, scanned the table of contents, and went straight to page 26, ‘One Minute Magic’. I followed the guide, tried it out and felt total peace–bliss. Self love. It didn’t matter who came to dinner or not. I was in heaven.
Fifteen minutes later, my new love interest rang to say the meeting was postponed and would I still like his company.
1 minute of magic = a 15 minute manifestation! And I haven’t even finished reading or done the workbook yet!!!
You are the most amazing spirit guide I’ve ever met!
    Thank you!!!! 🙂

  • Thanks for your post, Toni. Talk about helping me feel like I’m on the right track! Very much appreciated.
Remembering that “The Universe can only be as good to you as you are to yourself” is an easy inspiration to be good to yourself, isn’t it? I set the example. I show Universe how good I’m willing to let it be by how I treat myself.
Way to empower ourselves for upping the ante, huh! he he
Thanks again for posting, Toni. Your words mean a lot to me. 🙂

  • Toni says:

Me again. Have finished reading your e-book, and I just need to tell you this. Out of at least a hundred favourite sentences, this is probably the most shocking one for me: “The Universe can only be as good to you as you are to yourself”.
It’s so obvious, and yet I’ve never really thought of it that way! Somehow, even after years of studying LOA and after having listened to how you kept stressing the importance of goofing off, I was still of the misapprehension that this was all mostly about what you felt – and not so much about what I do in real life.
I know, sounds completely crazy now that I look at it in writing! But it’s (no, it WAS) true, and now you’ve managed to change my perspective completely.
Jeannette, thank you so much – oh, and by the way, I also love your voice in the e-book, the light and easy and very straight-forward manner of transforming all of your good ideas to words. You have a very seldom writer’s gift.
Now I can’t wait to get started on the audio files, but not until tomorrow: a certain good vibe coach just taught me that a good night’s sleep is of good value to me 🙂

  • Wow – the magic of making peace, huh? Nice example of it, Ms Nikki!
    I love stories like this!
Thanks for chiming in to share it here. 🙂

  • MsNikki says:

So spot on post! Earlier this week my trackball on my BlackBerry wouldn’t move to the right! I was not happy about this as the last time I had this happen the LCD screen would start to flash white and pink. One of the T-Mobile reps was really unfriendly at the time and I had to wait for several days to get a replacement phone.Needless to say, I was very frustrated and so not shiny/very unhappy. I emailed TMobile thinking I wouldn’t get a response because the last time I did nothing happened. So, I figured out how to get the essential information from my phone and made peace with it! Several days later, the trackball became unstuck and I received the TMobile follow up care later on! Hmmmmmm…….

  • Thank you for posting that, Toni! I’m getting really nice emails from early (and persistent) purchasers, and it’s incredibly rewarding to hear.
Thank you for being determined in getting your copy! lol
    Much love, my friend.

  • Toni says:

Love YOU! 🙂 Just got my hands on your new masterpiece and must say that – as incredible as that may sound – it’s just as amazing and wonderful as your Pray Rain Journaling e-book last year.
I’ll be raving about you on my blog for a looong while now…

  • And Judy, this is yet more evidence as to how we are such peas in a pod. lol
Thank you SO MUCH for doing the call with me yesterday! You are AMAZING!! I can’t wait to do something else with you again!

  • Thanks, Rena! When my first VA saw the graphics, she was like, “oh, have him change that.” And I was thinking, “are you kidding?! This is GORGEOUS! I’m not changing a THING!” lol
Glad I’m not the only who one likes it. 🙂

  • Judy says:

OMG! I’m so glad you wrote this!
I was telling you that I’m the same way re: web designers. I was especially clued into that fact when I recently-in a fit of frustration w/ my current designer-realized that i used to be equally frustrated w/ my last webbie-who, btw is now a saint in my eyes! lol
I guess, I’m just going to laugh at myself, come to terms w/ the agreements I want to make-agreements that reflect my values, and keep welcoming more and more fabulous people and help into my life. . .that’s all that’s going on here, right? lol
Oh YES, and remember that this is ALL turning out exactly as I planned. . .
much love to you, Jeannette, and all those who have provided services to me!

  • Rena Reese says:

Yes, Beautiful packaging indeed! Keep up your high vibration work! :+) RR
