Psychics and the Law of Attraction

law of attraction and psychicsDeliberate creators often ask about psychics and the value of their predictions (if any).

Many of us have had impactful experiences with psychics that are not easy to dismiss – and yet, the ability to predict our future seems counter to the belief that we have complete creative power over what we manifest in life.

But if we’re all connected, everything is energy, and time is just an illusion (everything is NOW) – then why wouldn’t a skilled energy reader be able to tell us what comes next?

The question is this: Can psychics accurately predict a deliberate creator’s future?

Here’s what Bashar says (if your vibration changes, all bets are off):

There’s no such thing as a prediction of THE future; only a sensing of the energy that exists at the time the prediction is made. All predictions are of the present, not the future.

So when a psychic tells you something about the future, what they’re doing is sensing the most likely probable energy that exists at the moment they’re making the prediction. And if that energy doesn’t change, then it has a high degree of probability of manifesting physically. But if it does change, then it will go down another path.

So it doesn’t mean the psychic was wrong if it doesn’t come to pass, it means you changed the energy that was sensed at the time the prediction was made.

Abraham’s take on the subject is similar (they’re reading current energy, not seeing your inevitable future; empower yourself):

A psychic can tap into your energy and know sort of where you are going. If you find a psychic that is very good at it (and there are some that are very good at it) when [they] understand that energy in the NOW is a projection of what your future is, then it is not difficult to tap into what the greater probability will be.

BUT it is only a probability.

The way to utilize the psychic is to hear and, if it is good news, then embrace it and anticipate it. And if it is bad news then poke around it with a stick a little bit, acknowledge what you donโ€™t want, let it help you identify what you do want. Then begin giving fuller attention to what you do want.

Many psychics that we have seen involved with others have a very difficult time separating one personโ€™s energy from another. And so sometimes you might get a dose of what she was picking up from the last one. Or even a little bit of what she is living in her own experience.

You are always far better off interacting with your own connectedness. Develop that to the fullest! Get really really good at following your own heart, your own gut feeling. Your connection with your own Inner Being is THE most important. Anything else is far, far, far, far down on the list.

Personally, I’ve found psychic readings tremendously beneficial in two ways:

1) they help me better know what I want.

When I hear that I’ll marry that man, or move to that place, or take that job, as soon as it’s spoken I instantly know (based on how I feel) whether it’s what I want or not. ย (Kind of like tossing a coin to know what you want based on whether you find yourself hoping for heads or tails.)

When the astrologer/card reading/psychic told me I would stay married after the relationship was shaken to the core, I knew instantly (from the pit of angst in my stomach) that I did not want an ongoing marriage. (Yay for clarity!) I hadn’t realized my true desire until she said the opposite and my stomach said “let’s not.”

2) they can give me another reason to believe.

When the psychic shares about something I don’t want, it’s pretty easy for me to dismiss. (See paragraph three in the Abe quote above.)

But when they tell me something delicious, I love reveling in that as yet one more reason to believe it will come to pass. I simply take the best and leave the rest of whatever info they share.

I suppose it could also be a powerful energy gauge – so you would know whether it’s time to tweak what you’re vibrating or are right on track towards what you want.

And having said that, I haven’t had a psychic reading in some time.

If you already know it’s hard for you to shake off what you might hear from a psychic, I’d suggest not challenging yourself with risking a visit to one. (Or at least engage it with a strong positive intention.)

It’s easy to want to outsource our guidance to someone else, but really it’s best when we learn to activate that power within. However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t much to be gained by visiting a psychic.

What do you think?

I’d love to hear your thoughts on how you as deliberate creators use – or don’t use – psychic readings. Maybe we’ll even hear from some LOA savvy practicing psychics!

You know, Sarah, your experience with this psychic is one reason I am such a fan of LOA savvy astrologers, card readers, psychics, etc. Because they can share their insights with us without disempowering us about what’s possible for us to create.
Shake it off and move on with your life, knowing YOU are in charge of what happens for you. Not anyone else.
In fact, the way some understand it (those who subscribe to multiple realities theories) is that it’s ALL happening. There’s one where it works out with you two and one where it doesn’t. Every possible option is unfolding, so it’s just a matter of which one do we prefer to focus ourselves into?

  • Sarah says:

In addition to this post i am interested to hear about anyone that has been to a psychic where they have changed the outcome of a situation which has then changed a prediction.. I really just want to put this to rest and move on i just need that peace of mind that i am in control of my own life and thoughts! I Honestly believe that seeing a psychic is bad.. for me anyway!!

  • Sarah says:

I have a question. I would like to know your views on Psychic Predictions. Is our future set in stone or can we change our outcomes? I’ve been left feeling very hurt and confused after a recent reading i had with a respected and well known Psychic. I have been to see her once before and she gives quite good readings with some things happening as predicted and some thing’s that are either not going to happen or are yet to happen.
At the time i went to see the Psychic I was separated from my partner. (about 6 weeks) i asked if he were coming back and she said no…
two weeks after the reading we started talking again and we have now been back together for nearly 4 months and things couldn’t be better. I am so happy with life right now but i can’t get the thought of what the psychic told me out of my head.. One minute i am happy the next i feel overwhelmed by worry that it’s not going to work or that he may leave me. We are really happy together so i know i should be living in the moment. I really regret seeing this psychic is it possible that she was reading me on the path i was on at that moment in time when i went to see her (down, upset, due to the break-up) I’ve changed a lot of my negative ways since we have been back together and i just want to know that if we make different choices is there a chance her prediction could be wrong..

  • Jeannette says:

Afsana, I would probably start by not giving so much credence or weight to the thoughts shared by others. Only YOU create your world, and you do that based on what you focus on.
I’d also perhaps find a way to decrease my attachment to this particular outcome. Maybe by reminding myself that life will be good for me no matter what does or doesn’t happen.

  • Afsana says:

Hi. I went to a psychic about a year ago and had an amazing reading. she told me many positive things like how I would be with the man Im with now, for the rest of my life and travel together. I felt so much joy hearing this prediction, so i know its aligned with what I truly desire. I am madly in love with my fiance and he is the most amazing man. but recently I asked my friend who reads tarot cards to read mine for me. this time she said that I would end up breaking up and finding a new love. this just shook me up and made me so scared. this is not what I want. I have tried to not think about it, and I know and understand law of attraction. just I have been uncontrollably thinking negative thoughts about the what if I cheat on him? what if I fall out of love. what if we dont work out? what if I meet someone else? I have been driving myself insane with these thoughts. and of course loa, more of this is coming in. I hate this so much and I need someone to give me do i get rid of these thoughts? Im trying so hard. and I dont want to lose him because of these thoughts. I would regret losing an amazing man like him for the rest of my life. please help me

  • What is being psychic except being able to tune into the vibes of other people and situations? Every good coach and therapist can do this – in fact it’s what makes them good. I mean think about it… how many times have you *known* where the client was going even before they went there?
While I am a psychic, I consider myself first to be a mentor and guide and my readings are more a combination of psychic predictions, coaching and empowerment. In fact empowerment is probably the greatest factor. Once you BELIEVE you can accomplish anything. Before that you’re going to get spotty results at best.

  • Ruth Wilson says:

As a psychic myself, I can support the point of view you are presenting.
It takes a fair amount of discipline for a psychic to be very neutral and see the client’s energy separate from other energies.
Even then, we see possibilities based on present intentions. I have watched such visions of the future shift and change from second to second as the person reacts to my reading.
I find it far more valuable to look at what the person desires and heal the energy that creates obstacles.
    Thanks for your good work!

  • Kim Falconer says:

    Hi Jeannette,
I love this post and everyone’s insightful comments.
To me it’s summed up in two words. Aham bramasmi. I am the universe. Anything we hear from a psychic is a reflection of who we are in that given moment. If it feels foreign, it’s our unconscious. If it feels affirming, it’s our conscious. Every interaction we have is a ‘participation mystique’ with the universal law of attraction. Like attracts like. Conscious or unconscious, we see our Self reflected back to us in everything.
And it’s useful, just as you said, Jeannette. It can help us get clear on what we want and what we don’t want. It can shake us up and motivate us to change our vibration (future) or it can make us fearful or angry or happy . . . we get to decide, always.
I get people asking me about their future every day and like other ‘readers’ here I aim to empower, though often the power is projected on me. Tell me what you see! Tell me what to do! Tell me if this is going to work out! Already not so much in command, those statements. But not everyone has that mindset. Some say, help me understand myself deeper! That’s the one that makes me smile.
As an Astro-LOA coach, my emphasis is on astrology (and Tarot) as a map, very useful on the life journey as long as you don’t mistake the map for omnipotent guidance from beyond. It’s a map of the territory, not the territory itself ๐Ÿ™‚ But such a useful map if you know how to read it!
Thank you again for the fabulous topic!

  • Jen says:

I’ve been reading for 40 years or so. At first I thought of readings as “stealth psychology” but now it’s more like “stealth empowerment.”
I start out with the intent of connecting people with their own inner guidance (where I’m mostly a channel for what their higher self wants them to be aware of.)
Given that, though, a useful (IMO) reading is mostly a road map with a big “you are here” marker. At best, a reading can give you a new perspective, a reframe of where you are, or show possible choices you hadn’t thought of. A good map should let you see where you are, where you want to be, and give you some idea of the turns you need to make to get there.
I shuffle the deck, but then have the client cut the cards, and I say “โ€ฆjust making you responsible for your own future.” It always gets a laugh, but I do mean it ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Pernille Madsen says:

Great post and great comments ๐Ÿ™‚
My Inner Being was so thrilled when I read Bashar’s words that I know (feel) that this is the truth for me – I’m still smiling – thanks for sharing, Jeannette ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Elizabeth says:

I had a psychic reading a few years ago and she said something similar .. that it was about the most probable outcome based on where I was in that moment and the direction it looked like I would take, but that if things changed, the outcome could change. It’s hard to say whether I found that reassuring in that moment ๐Ÿ˜‰ but in retrospect, I like it.

  • Akira Dawn says:

How could I not respond to this? ๐Ÿ™‚
As a resident LoA savvy psychic, I found the article to be spot on ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s all about trends.
You can almost think of it like a weather report. Some things are pretty predictable, like it’s going to be hot in summer and cold in winter. Other things can be guessed at – like rain and such – by taking a look at the known variables. But in the end, it’s all about trends.
Trends in weather patterns can be likened to habituated or calcified patterns of thought. The more This Is How It IS resides in the person’s energy field, the more This Is How It IS (sound familiar? ๐Ÿ˜‰ )
The interesting part is that we often aren’t aware of our biggest solidified beliefs – those that both serve and don’t serve. And so we get thrown for unexpected loops. Which, as some pointed out, tend to serve in the end no matter what.
They either bring us to an even more Real-ized version of This Is How It IS…or they start to go there, we actually literally see them coming toward us as they make themselves manifest…and we celebrate…or we change something.
“Oh! This really is how it IS! Even more than I thought! Awesome – bring it on!”
“Oh! Ack, no, don’t want that, I want THIS instead!”
The gift of clarity through contrast Abraham always talks about ๐Ÿ™‚
Where a psychic, or astrologer, or reader, or what have you comes in is in revealing those unseen trends.
If you knew you were doing it, you wouldn’t do it…right? Maybe ๐Ÿ˜‰
If you love that you’re doing it, you’ll continue to do it more…right? Very likely ๐Ÿ˜‰
Myself, I’m a positive potential reader. There are literally infinite possibilities hinging on key choices. Change your mind, change your life. Those are what I tend to focus on, not just a general weather forecast, but also the positive potentials that are available regarding whatever the person is asking about.
There are many readers who lay it all on the table – kinda like the weather channel. You wanna go on vacation? ‘kay, here’s the weather all around the world right now…and what it’ll likely be next week. Have at it.
I of course prefer my own method ๐Ÿ™‚ But there are those who enjoy the huge world of information available. That’s why there are so many different styles and types of readers out there!

  • “Thereโ€™s no such thing as a prediction of THE future; only a sensing of the energy that exists at the time the prediction is made. All predictions are of the present, not the future.”
I absolutely agree with this statement! I never really thought about it before, but now that you articulate it, that really, really makes sense. (Note to self: Add this to my theology.)

  • Suzie Cheel says:

I won a reading from Angela Artemis and what transpired was wonderful as i began painting again through a prescription series.
I believe psychics reinforce what our subconscious , higher self already knows- maybe this just reaffirms and speeds up the process.
today I read Nicole Codys channeled blog post ( )and received a message i know I had been avoiding ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Brenda says:

I’ve only ever been to a really gifted psychic twice. That was years ago. I wouldn’t choose to get a reading now, simply because…invited or not, I just don’t want someone else’s spoon in my manifesting cauldron. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Robert says:

I just read an amazing book that talks about this question with more of a religious slant. The book is “To Heaven and Back” by Mary C. Neal, MD. It is one of the best books ever, I highly recommend it. But in the book it is “revealed” to the author that her son is going to die before he turns 18. But they change that and he lives longer.

  • ChipEFT says:

I don’t use psychics because of the reasons stated above that they are just a reading of the state of things as they are right here right now.
The thing is, everything is right here right now. But I’d like to clarify what I mean by right here right now. What I would like to suggest is that right here right now is a fixed point outside of time and space. This is where we all are. Time and space are both constructs we have created to make sense of our experiences. The illusion of growth, movement, even continuity is simply us making subtle changes to our vibrations.
From that perspective, when we create a new vibration, we create a new illusion, complete with a past present and future that makes logical sense in our personal time=space continuum.
IF you get this, then psychic readings, like anything else, only have the meaning you assign them. For me, it is much simpler to shift my vibration and create the reality I am wanting. Actually it is harder than that because of my ingrained habits of thought. But you get the picture.
The point is, we can use our emotions to give us the status of our vibration any time we want. Then we can decide if the thoughts that create those vibrations are serving us and change them.
Don’t get me wrong, if you find relief from using psychics then it is appropriate to do so. These psychics like everything else are reflections of your state of consciousness.
I prefer to use my built-in systems.

  • Anna says:

My experience is that the what psychic says is simply a confirmation of what I already know and/or believe. That they really are simply reading our energy as it is *in that moment* makes total and complete sense. As I see it, psychics are less the gypsy fortune tellers we’ve come to associate with carnivals or circuses, and more the inner guidance we think we can’t hear.
I’m not negating what they do – some are very gifted. But even with the Russian woman down the road from me, truly psychic, it’s the energy of the time she picks up on, whether she tries to or not, and *that* is what she speaks to (when she does so, if so inclined, and always voluntarily).
What makes a psychic “good” or not often depends on the level of our own personal awareness. The more self-aware & accepting we are, the better able we are to “read” other people. Those who are less aware, often seeking solace from outside the self, are more likely to call upon a psychic for solutions to their problems. That energy sticks out like heat from a fire, and chances are, they’re not likely to adjust course any time soon.
That’s my $3.99/minute. (tee hee hee)

  • oh my gosh, total goosebumps, MauiMinnow! Cultivate our OWN ability to read!!!
Ok, that might be my favorite response yet. Talk about self empowerment! WOOT!

  • mauiminnow says:

I have never had a psychic reading that was spot on. So for the past couple of years I’ve been on the path to expand my own psychic intuition. I have two sets of tarot cards and they always give me exactly what I’m vibing! It’s also how you read a card. There are positive and negative aspects to each card. I know how to turn that ‘negative’ into a fun challenge or see it as a hurdle I’ve already gotten through.
I feel the same about some astrologers. There are some astrologers who paint the current cosmos energy as doom and gloom. I read their negative chatter and instantly dismiss it. But the positive, beautiful things they write! Ahhh! That’s all 100% true!

  • Yes, Nancy, big difference when we’re asking others to support what we’re creating versus asking others “what will I create?”

  • Jeannette, I was *gifted* a free session with a psychic a while back and about 5 minutes into the conversation I realized she was not reading ME…she was reading HERSELF! When I gently pointed out that nothing she was saying related to me, she became combative. Seriously, I tuned her out the rest of the time because her energy was horrific. I blessed her and sent HER positive energy, and afterward took a recuperative shower to release the low vibe. Nothing she said was useful to me.
That said, I don’t believe this is true of all psychics…but I would be very careful who we consult, especially of those who contact you directly and offer to do a “free” session.
Also, I wanted to address your comment…

Itโ€™s easy to want to outsource our guidance to someone else, but really itโ€™s best when we learn to activate that power within. However, that doesnโ€™t mean there isnโ€™t much to be gained by visiting a psychic.

The OutSourcers Forum at GVU is DIFFERENT than hiring a psychic. While we are “outsourcing” our requests, we are not asking someone else to tell us what will happen. We are stating our preference while being open to the possibilities of something even better.
    Many blessings,

  • Thanks for reading, DivineOne – glad you enjoyed it!
Brian, sounds like you’re loving the input you’re getting! Yay for that. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Brian says:

I’ve seen a few psychics and until the most recent one I didn’t feel any were connected to anything in a way any more different than I was.
This latest is just different, she dwells on what I am radiating out to the world, spends time answering my questions and then does energy work on me utilizing many different techniques.
She isn’t responsible for my life changing in so many ways since I met her but I do feel she was the catalyst for much of the good that flowed my way.
I’m calling her a psychic but more precisely she is an energy seer who talks to entities on a higher spiritual level than we are.

  • DivineOne says:

I was just thinking about this very topic last week, so I was so happy to see this post from you! And I’m happy to say, what you say is right in line with what I had been thinking.
I’ve been making a lot of vibrational/energetic changes in the last 4 months, and the thought of seeing a psychic to ‘gauge’ where I am is an intriguing one. Thanks for this Jeanette!

  • You know, Gena, the more I read about parallel universes and multiple realities, the more it makes sense that what a reader tells us could definitely be true – but not necessarily in THIS reality. Or at least, Bashar would probably say, that you can always focus yourself into a different one. Where the person mentioned is trustworthy and honest.
    Maybe? ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Gena says:

I have regular Tarot readings from someone that I totally trust and who has always been spot on for me,however a few weeks ago she read for me and although she didnt give me really bad news, she did raise some concerns and told me that I was being misled by someone close,I would confront this person and I would eventually find the truth but not immediately, this is the first time I have regretted having a psychic reading,it has coloured my view of everything negatively and I feel that I am just waiting for this to happen. This post is interesting,I had not really considered that I may be able to change the outcome by using my manifesting techniques.

  • Thanks for adding to the conversation, Greg. I love what you said here, “a psychic or intuitive can tell you, indirectly, what you are vibrating now, and if you donโ€™t like what you hear, itโ€™s time to do the work to shift your vibration.”
That feels very right to me. And it allows me to benefit from the gifts of energy readers without being subject to their predictions.

  • Greg says:

An interesting and insightful blog post! From the few times that I have engaged with a psychic or intuitive, when I have heard unwanted things, I didn’t focus on the negatives and did not experience them (that I can remember-perhaps some selective memory happening here :-)). When I have heard wanted things, I have focused on it, but I think, in taking stock to soon or hoping that it will occur (from lack-based thinking), some things did manifest, and some did not. And, there are some things, that if you super stretch it out, it sort of kind of came true. It’s like what you said above, about possibilities or probabilities and what we put our attention to. Very similar to the analogy that Kim Falconer uses with astrology–it’s a road map or a paths of possibilities of where you really want to go, whether it’s deliberate or default thinking or focus that gets you there. I think a psychic or intuitive can tell you, indirectly, what you are vibrating now, and if you don’t like what you hear, it’s time to do the work to shift your vibration. Oddly, too, there has been one item that three psychics have told me, that resonates, but I have been totally resistant to it, it freaks me out. So know, I’m letting go of resistance to see what happens. Fun conversation!

  • Wow, Jesann, I never heard a story like that – where the reading served one in such a roundabout way. ha! But I’m glad it did.
MissyB, yes, this is a great time to practice the art of sifting. Remembering we create our own truth, and we are always in charge.

  • MissyB says:

How right were you – my vibration sunk as I read Bashar’s words. I have had hope since visiting my fortune teller back in February – and perhaps I should have skipped this post !
I’ve used the same fortune teller for near on two years. Some stuff was dot on. Some stuff way off the mark. It has helped me move on when I heard stuff I didn’t want to hear…and it has given me hope when I needed it most.
As with all advice – take what you need and discard what you don’t.
I’m off to uplift my vibe…

  • Jesann says:

Oof. This is a big one for me, because I had a reading a few years ago that really affected things for me. (Or that I let affect me — you know what I mean.)
I saw a good psychic who was adamant that this was but one path based on where I was headed at the time, and that other people involved might change how they were handling things, etc. The path was great — it was a future that was very doable and very in line with where I was trying to head.
Unfortunately, confirmation that it would be so great made things go haywire for me.
My brain is such that when I start to think about a future event, it’s like there is an internal belief that what I think about does not work out, or it turns out to be completely different than I had thought. Kind of like finding out someone you have only talked to looks a lot different in person than how you pictured them. Unfortunately, that internal belief grabbed ahold of this and ran with it.
Ironically, that was actually a good thing. There are things about that potential future that I wouldn’t be able to deal with now (and wouldn’t want to deal with). So my wonky manifesting beliefs actually saved me some trouble, when I think about it, though they did cause me grief for two years as my “dream” seemed to slip away. But the fact remains that I still have that weird “reverse” belief, and psychic predictions are subject to it. I’ve stopped getting those readings because they are not helping me live “now.” I end up daydreaming instead.
