Simple Alignment Exercise

simple alignment exercise for deliberate creatorsGot a big meeting you’d like to go well?  Or a hot date you’re getting ready for?
Here’s a short and simple alignment exercise designed to help things go your way.
I was reminded of this a few days ago when a colleague used it to deliver a big presentation that she said went “very, very well.”
So here’s a short, simple and effective way to line up for fabulous results.
Whatever you’re getting ready for, answer these four questions:

  • What do I want from this?
  • Why do I want that?
  • How will that make me feel?
  • Where is that feeling present in my life now?  (as in, how do I have that already?)

That’s it.  Dial in on those four answers and you’re sending a very powerful instruction to Universe.
Here’s a quick example.
I’ll use it for an upcoming call with Laura Chiraya Fox channeling the Star Elders at Good Vibe U.
What do I want?
I want to offer a powerful spotlight for Chiraya’s wonderful work.  I want others to experience her gifts and the messages of the Star Elders.  I want GVU to be a valuable resource for my fellow creators.
Why do I want that?
I want to uplift others; I want to be of high service; and I want to have fun!
How will that make me feel?
Satisfied; elated; delighted; engaged; connected; all good things!
Where is that feeling present in my life now?
Connected and engaged is happening here at this blog!  In my inbox of people writing to share their thanks and appreciation and insights and success stories!
Satisfied is happening when I look around my beautiful life and take in all that there is to enjoy.  Delighted is watching Elvis play with the plant this morning.
And with that, guess who just set herself up for a good time?
Easy peasy, huh?!  Have fun with this one!

  • I just was asked to be an expert presenter at a big conference in November (my first time to be a speaker at a big event!). I’m excited now but figured I may be nervous as time draws closer and I have to actually GIVE my presentation in front of all those people. So I’ll reference back to this when the time comes – along with doing EFt – I can’t wait to rock it!

Excellent article. It really focuses on why we want what we want. The technique I use (and works amazingly well) is to express both gratitude and joy before the event. For example, “Thank you for the JOY of receiving my brand new Mercedes” or “Thank you for the JOY of eating this beautiful meal” or “Thank you for the JOY of having a wonderful meeting with my colleagues”.After all, this is ultimately what I’m after – to align with the FEELING – of what owning a brand new Mercedes, a delicious meal or an harmonious meeting, brings. This also shifts me away from any feeling of not being worthy to receive as the emphasis is more on the feeling rather than what is requested. The feeling of joy acts as an amplifier and helps in the alignment process.

Thank you! Sometimes I forget these small things right before an event I want to go well, and have at times reverted to anxiety. This is much better. 🙂

    This was GREAT!! 🙂

    great reminder!! Thanks

Did it in the car while heading off for therapy. My intention was to have an enlightening session – and I did. Brilliance, truth, and beauty sprung from my head like Athena (yeah, I went there) and I came to realize why my mother and I have such a difficult relationship.
    Loves it.

I needed to be reminded of this today!! I think I need to set my phone with a few reminders during the day to ask myself, how my day is going, so if not to my liking at the moment, I can start ‘aligning’ right then and there!! 🙂
